For all on this forum that live in Arizona and may need a mechanic. I found Arizona Engine Rebuilders, my truck is not done yet it should be done by 7/29/22. So far they have been great, good communication with Dave he is the middle man between customer and mechanic. He has kept me up to date and lets me know promptly of any changes. Because i am using parts and tune from Green racing it's been a little more complicated waiting for parts to come and for example I bought a new diablo tuner so i can import the tune I didn't know i had to install the diablo tuner on my truck before Green racing can install the tune. My truck is in pieces with no motor here I am stressing out trying to figure how I am going to install a tuner. I explained the situation to Dave and he is working with me to get the problem fixed. All in all I am happy with my experience Arizona Engine Rebuilders, I know my truck is not done yet but good customer service is hard to come by. As long as i get my truck back purring like kitten this place is going to have high marks for me.

Good looks! Im subscribed! Please keep us updated - Im about to do this work as well and have just changed my mind to Greene parts. Im curious what options you went with from him and ultimately if his lead time is accurate for you.

If you have pointers on how to get the diablo installed as well, please mention.

As above, good luck.

@OcallyRamFam, from Green racing i went with stage .5 HL v2 205/222 cam kit. It took little over 4 weeks to get all the parts in. The rest of the motor is stock just new parts and i will say before you start this project read the book "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" cause just when think you have everything you need something else will pop up. In all fairness that probably because I am figuring this out as I go.

installing the diablo tuner is pretty easy, They have done a good job of making it "plug and play". I went with the intune I3 platinum, it allows custom tunes and data logging. when you receive your tuner plug it into your computer and you might have to go onto diablo website and download the proper drivers and software. once you have done that then just make it sure its updated after that you can plug it into your truck. the port is directly under your steering wheel at least for mine I have an 09. then just follow the on screen prompts. the one thing i messed up on that i wish i knew is before you start your rebuild. Install your tuner put whatever diablo tune on your truck doesn't matter wich and drive with tune for a little bit, a week if you can it will give Green Racing a better baseline to write your tune.

with Green Racing don't be in a rush he is really good about responding but he is busy. He will answer any questions you have and walk you through the process. The only downside he is really busy and has a crap ton of customers so you have to be a little patient with him.

I got my truck back last Wednesday 8/3/22 on the way home it was running great i was being easy on her seeing how i just got the motor put back together. I live about 30 miles from the shop, as i was getting off the freeway it started to feel off, it felt like it had no horse power. then the low oil pressure light came on and the oil temp soard up to 215 degrees. everything else was normal temp, but time I limped into my driveway another mile the oil temp was above 220. I called Arizona Engine Rebuilding and told them what happend, Dave started off saying it could be a bad oil sensor, ******** was my immediate thought, but fine I told i was going to change the oil and see what it looks like.

I dropped the oil, remember the oil had not been in there for more than 5 hours, it came out bit milky-grey. You could clearly see metal way to much metal to be from a normal break in period. The oil filter was completely clogged with metal shaving. I called back Dave and told him what I found, I wish I recorded the call he basically tried to make it sound like i was overreacting. And again tried to convince that it was an oil sensor issue cause in his view oil does not rise in temp unless it low. But I told that he needs to take this truck back and inspect it again. long story short i ended up putting it on a trailer and bring it back to his shop on Saturday 8/6/22

So now I am just waiting for him to call me and tell what is wrong with it, I spoke to Dave yesterday on 8/10/22 and said he not got to my truck yet.

What the heck man! Sorry to hear this. Let us know what he says. Any pics of the filter?

I mean some metal in the oil is normal on a rebuild but it sounds like you had a ton!

Before the BS happened what did you think of the cam? Could you hear a difference?

Was it actually low on oil when you drained it? Seems like a pretty elementary thing to check for a shop that took on this level of work.

@G-Ride990 The oil was a tad low maybe a quart. and yea it sounds mean, when i first started driving it home it felt like it wanted to just run, it needs a little more tuning but it felt good really good.

I hope you get it sorted out. Hang on to that oil and filter.

Also, document everything you can that has happened since you picked it up from the shop.

The milky oil could just be all the assembly lube mixing. The metal is worrisome though.

I had my tuner hooked up to my truck recording the engine data originally to send to Green racing to refine the tune. But I am hoping the data can also show the loss of power and the oil issues like overheating and low oil pressure. I do not know exactly what data it records.

Hopefully the engine data will help.

I mainly meant for phone calls, etc. Timelines, who you spoke with, what you asked, what answer was, etc. Just to keep your ducks in a row.

It will be interesting to see the outcome of all this.

I just got off the phone with Arizona Engine Rebuilding 8/16/22 and basically the hole bottom end of that motor is (F) Ducked. The crank shaft is toast along with 4 connecting rods and vvt solenoid and slew of other parts. There was so much metal in the motor the oil pickup was clogged. Dave said he has no idea how that happen he started to try and blame the aftermarket cam I brought from green racing saying how the high spring tension on the lifters can cause excessive heat... I then asked him how that would affect the crankshaft and connecting rods. he had no answer then moved the conversation to another topic. So basically from what i gather he need to talk John who i think is the owner for they want to handle this. I have a feeling they are going to try to get me to pay for this at least a portion.

I am sure it goes without saying but I do not want to deal with there BS, If they didnt feel comfortable installing an aftermarket cam, lifters, and springs. they should of told me when I told them about it. They follow the instruction on how to setup the spring tension. But didn't follow the instruction for first start up. The instruction the cam came with said Run for 30 min at 2k to 2.5k rpms then dump oil. They ran it for an hour at idle and I don't remember if they said they dumped the oil. I just want my truck done and done right. Granted i don't know much about building motors, but I am not doing anything exotic or out of the box. Its a HL cam, its not like I asking them to put a turbo with a nitrous system.

Thanks for letting me vent I am so pissed off and frustrated and I have this gut feeling that it's going to get worse before its gets better.

OMG I too would be PO'ed, I do not understand how they can not follow cam break in directions, that is a very important thing to due along with oil change if that is what the cam manufacture requires.. Do let us know how this goes... IMHO you should not have to pay them one dime for them to make it right including getting the exact replacement parts you gave to them to install...
