I had a 2012 Tundra and a 2014 Tundra...no issues. Toyota's temporary decline in quality was not related to it's increase in complexity, rather the rapid pace in which they introduced new product to market without the intense vetting Toyota had been known for. They vowed to change all that 5 years ago, and they have. Toyota just released a new Tundra, after ZERO changes since 2014. 7 year continuous run with the fanboys clamoring for change... As opposed to the F150, with a new release every two years...accompanied by a new batch of problems. I'm not a Toyota fanboy, but there is no denying they build a quality product.Toyota gained a quality thing many years ago, but that was on a truck that was dirt simple.... They are not quite so good on quality any more, but you can't tell that to a Toyota nut.
Avoid Mondays and Fridays, tooI like buying a "late in the generation cycle" vehicle. I avoid the 1st year and mostly 2nd year versions if at all possible.
Your absolutely right! I've been down that road with 5 series BWW's and an E36 M3. I love the fact that I can easily do things myself and its pretty straight forward. I bought that all aluminum radiator with excellent reviews for $250. A new electric fan for $160, stoptech brake kit for towing $500, OEM trailer brake controller for $75, Tough Truck 1211 XHD Rear Coil Kit HD springs for the rear $190. All that's about $1200! Only paid $13,500 for the truck..I just turned 121k.
I get it that it sucks having to dish out $$$ on something you just bought, but in the big picture…… that’s not too bad, of course I’m guessing you didn’t drop $40k + on the purchase.
For what it’s worth and a comparison…… if your going to purchase a BMW 3 or 5 series (2000-2015 at least) It WILL need to have the radiator replaced and associated components ( may as well, as there all right there anyways) If you keep it between 75,000- 110,000 miles. Cost….. 3 series @ $1500 / 5 series @ $1800. This is just a gouge, M cars more $$$$. If you DO NOT do this, and it fails while driving….. your looking at an easy $3500 to start. And then you still have to do it anyways.
Whats my point?
This is not to scare of keep anyone away from purchasing one ( I’ve got several and always adding to the collection) but as an “informed” buyer, it does come into play if it has or not been completed as to my actual cost…… as so does your Ram.
These are great trucks, and taken care of can keep running for a long time with proper maintenance and care.
The only way around this is to Lease every year and turn it in….. but that’s not even a guarantee
Nice looking interior. I need those seatsYour absolutely right! I've been down that road with 5 series BWW's and an E36 M3. Hey BakedMech,Hey All,
I just rolled over my first year with my 21 1500 Classic SLT 4x4 Crew Cab. It has 317 Engine hours and 7,542 Km. I obviously don't drive a whole lot. I have experienced more issues with this Truck then any other vehicle and want to see if this if normal for the Truck or should I be worried. To be clear I love my Truck I am just worried about the problems:
Tailgate would not close due to improper assembly. Replaced Bushing.
Center Console Broke and needed to be replaced. Apparently Assembly issue.
Front Bumper assembled incorrectly. Causing damage between upper and lower bumpers. Awaiting approval for fix from Chrysler.
Exhaust manifold bolt broken. Covered under warranty.
Appreciate any input!
I don't think you support Canada. Do you?Hey BakedMech,
We are terribly sorry to hear all of the concerns you've had with your vehicle. If you'd like some assistance with this, we'd love to have you reach out to us via direct messaging.

I think that's the most frustrating part. Having to wait for the parts to be ordered. The uncommon parts I get, but if Manifold Studs break all the time you would think they would keep some in stock. My 2015 Laramie EcoDiesel crew cab 4x4 is on its 7th and 8th factory recall... (Air bags and fuel pump). While the local dealership has eventually covered all recalls at factory expense, they never seem to have parts available to make repairs in a timely manner after the recall notice goes out. I'm still waiting for parts for a recall that came out 6 months ago.
So your reply is to get a lawyer because the dealer fixed all OP's issues successfully free of charge???Cremeens Law Group PLLC

I have used them twice and got great results at no cost!
In summer of 2006 I bought a real nice Honda Odyssey. By total chance a friend of mine bought the exact same van later that month. Identical down to the color. Only difference was I bought the mid line EX model and he bought the top line Touring model. His experience was a disaster and cost him many thousands extra. My experience was nearly perfect.Sometimes it is luck of the draw. I remember my first new car was a '74 plymouth satellite. There were two on the lot that were identical, even the color. The only difference was one had A/C and nicer seats. Back then the A/C option boosted the price quite a bit, so I bought the one with out. I put 100k on that car with basically zero issues. The guy that bought the other one had non stop issues almost from the day he bought it.
CROSS everything U got, and keep up the MX timely with good parts. MY 19 DT truck has just had 3 recalls in 4 years, but now I am in the parts line: Awaiting an OEM 850 E E Rad fan, ordered 1 Feb, who knows when it gets here, 2025 ???Sounds like I may be in the minority here, but 36,000 miles and 20 months old and the only problem with my 2020 Ecodiesel was the most recent Federal recall to update the DEF calibration. So far (knock on wood) I've been extremely happy with my truck. I consistently average 20+ mpg (calculated not from the dash) city driving and 25+ on the highway with many trips averaging close to 27 mpg. I am keeping my fingers crossed....
