I'm just curious to see if anyone else has had their 12" screen stolen from their Ram? Mine was in a hotel parking lot, some POS broke the left rear door glass, carefully disconnected the wiring harnesses on the back of the screen and took the entire assembly, they obviously knew what they were doing, saw hotel video(which showed nothing of use) that the POS was only in my truck about 15-20 seconds...over $2K to replace.

Yes...insurance is covering it. Just wanted to make others aware that this is happening...see all kinds of these units for sale on ebay and other places. Now that mine is out I'm really surprised how easy it is to steal...2 small screws(which they broke) under the rubber mat in the top tray and 5 electrical connectors and it's gone. The dirt bags that did this got 7 vehicles in one night within a 1/4 mile of where my truck was parked.

Looks like who ever did it, either works or worked at an Auto Alarm & Stereo shop

It makes me livid that someone can just DO this. I fu&king hate thieves. Always trying to find easy money at someone else’s expense. Presumably, (as all of us) this person worked hard to earn and buy his truck and some **** does this…..
Now, he has to take a hit on his insurance probably as well as sort the window etc etc.

Thanks for the warning. So, trucks at airports stolen, fuel stolen, now whole screens!

Ehhhh...Reminds me of the 80's when we had removable Alpine head units, so we could take them with us to prevent theft. Seems we may be headed back in that direction.

I'm surprised it's so easy to pull out of there. I had to get down to the bezel on my 8.4 uConnect on my 18 2500 and it was a fair amount of work to get there.

Anyway, bummer for sure. Sorry to read about it.

I was surprised also. The main bezel is held in by 2 screws under a rubber mat in the upper storage tray and the rest is trim clips that just pop out with a trim tool...the screen is attached to the trim from behind along with the switch panel on the bottom so they took it all. Like I said earlier and told the cops the same thing...this guy knew what he was doing disconnecting the wiring harnesses as some of these can be difficult and nothing was damaged...probably a current or former RAM employee

Too bad you can’t wire in 15 amps for them to grab onto.

In the '80s, "a friend :secret:" mounted a slotted block that held razor blades to the bottom of his radio. Needless to say "the friend" found blood drops across the leather interior a month or two later.

Today you would of course be sued and lose in court for hurting the individual helping himself to your radio.

Might be his died and he needed another one. But, aren't the units coded to the truck?

I found out yesterday from the dealer tech that these are not coded to the truck...this is just a display; the radio, NAV unit is behind this and it is coded to the truck and also has it's own IP address so it could be traced if stolen and installed in another vehicle. My radio, Nav(voice only of course) all still worked; controlled the radio with the controls on the steering wheel and NAV through voice commands. Just didn't have any control over the HVAC which really sucked.

That is insane. I'd never had thought a factory radio would be a target of random theft. Guy must have needed one and went shopping.
