I got a letter from FCA yesterday that told me they are extending the warranty on my turbo actuator to 15 years or 150,000 miles. It said this applies to certain 2015 RAM 3500 vehicles and their records indicate my vehicle is affected by the warranty extension.

Here is the meat of the letter;

I wasn't aware of an actuator issue, anyone know more about this?
Don't get too excited!!! It is a complete sham!! I just got off the phone with a Chrysler supervisor at the helpline because I asked to speak with one today. They told me my truck was not eligible and my claim was denied. I asked why. I was told it was because I replaced the part myself and it needed to be done by a Chrysler approved repair facility. I asked if it wasn't covered under warranty then why does it matter where I had it repaired. All it matters is that the port was repaired And my truck is one of the ones which was within the qualifying range and I received the letter. She told me some story that the turbo charger isn't covered only the actuator and asked me to read her the letter so she could prove me wrong. I read the letter which said "turbo charger actuator" and as soon as I said turbo charger she said "see! Turbo charger!… The turbo is not covered only the controller!" I told her the controller is the actuator it's the same thing the letter is telling me that the turbo controller and or turbo actuator is what is covered and she said no it said turbo charger and I said yes because the controller controls the turbo charger she then changed her story and told me that my truck was not eligible because I replaced the part myself and it was not done by the dealer. I told her yes because the dealer wanted $4000 which was a rip off then I called Chrysler to complain and Chrysler said OK will do it for 2000 so they immediately reduced their fee by 50% which tells me it was overrated very much to begin with. I said I'm still not paying that and ended up buying the part for $600 and putting it on myself with a few hours labor. . About a year and a half later I get the letter from Chrysler soliciting me for the receipt. I did not go to them yet when I turn everything in my claim is automatically denied so unless you went to the dealer and paid the $4000 I don't think you're getting your money back Chrysler is nothing but a ******** scam anymore and even though I own a bunch of Chrysler vehicles I don't think I will ever buy another one

Why not just file the reimbursement claim online and avoid an uninformed rep? The letter I received clearly stated how to to file online.

Has anyone had success with this process that took their repair to a non dodge approved dealership? I would love to know more.

I read this only covers 2015 trucks. My truck was made January 2016. Is there any chance the actuator can be from 2015 and covered by this? Just got codes for it.

They usually state at first a selected year,
then when they get a good portion of that selected year taken care of, they expand to another year or two.
