Here's a "mod" I've wanted to do for 40 years now. I used a relay to make it power off when my truck is on and it powers on when my truck is off. I don't drive with the flashing red light.

You'll need to use 87a to make it power up when the truck powers down. 30: constant power. 85: ground. 86: to a power source that powers up with the truck. 87a: LED strip. 87: not needed, unless you want something to power up with the truck. Also, I had a spare inline fuse laying around that I put between 30 and the relay. That way, if something goes wonky, the fuse will pop first.
