Good morning ladies and gents, i have exhausted the interweb and feel like im dumber after than i started... i just took delivery of my new 2500 gasser with ram boxes, crew cab, short bed and am also in the market for a 5th wheel. When this started another "pathway to info" when i posted this question i got the answer of just run a goosebox and everything will be fine, then 2 seconds later was told no way that will never work. The question i have is will a goose box with the b&w extender work on these trucks or do you have to go with standard 5th wheel mount. I have a couple trailers with goose necks already and would like to keep it all the same. I know that theres differences in 5th wheel trailers just cannot find out what will or not work!! PLEASE HELP. Thanks in advance as i know theres lots that goes into this. The trailer we are looking at will be a max of 32-34 feet as thats all we can take to our place in the keys so its not a gigantic trailer by any means. truck will have mopar gooseneck installed next week so thats where we are now...

Reese Goosebox will work. Plenty of people running short beds with the goosebox. The B&W 4" extender will definitely help with turning radius.

I’d recommend doing a search on here for “5th wheel towing with Rambox”. There’s a wealth of info in there.

I know back in the day when we were looking at fifth wheels, that were built on lippert frames (almost all of the brands!) said that if you use a goose neck for towing.... the frames warranty was void.

i have watched all the videos that i can find but they all have 5th wheel hookups. my question is how well does the goosebox work with these trucks. yes it is lazy but i would like to just need the goose ball instead of having to change back and forth....

That has changed. Reese Goosebox is the only Lippert authorized gooseneck conversion.

Gen-Y goose neck conversion is not and will void your Lippert frame warranty if there is an issue while using it.

Goose neck and goose box are two different animals. One is a complete pin box(approved by lippert) and the other is a goose neck to pin box adapter, which is not approved.

in the market for a 5th wheel.

The limiting factor is payload.

What is your payload and the pin weight of the 5th?
