Hey guys I have a ‘10 Ram that I could use some help with. Being a mom of 2 I really like when I turn off my vehicle and take the key out of the ignition I have a few seconds/minutes to gather up my purse and things before I open my doors at night. And normally when you take the key out of the ignition a light comes on. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to have my lights come on after I take the fob out of the ignition. I’ve scrolled the dial under the automatic headlights, and still nothing. I’ve even replaced bulbs. Anyone have ANY ideas on what or how I could fix this?

I had a 2009, the first year of the Dodge Ram 1500 4th Generation.
I had the RA4 Radio, it came with Navigation from the factory

I believe that in the Radios MENU, that the timing for the headlights shutting off after closing the drivers side front door could be set

Read your vehicle owner’s manual (or look it up online) to determine the interior light settings.

As poster #2 said, it is probably controlled via a settings menu on your vehicle. Some settings include “approach lighting”, which turns on the interior lights when the engine is shut-off (and the headlamps if the light sensor determines an exterior low-light situation).

I don't believe there is an auto function that turns on the interior lights when the key fob is removed.

If you rotate the dimmer wheel (under the headlight knob) all the way to the right your interior lights should come on...with or without the key in the ignition. Don't forget to turn them off when you leave the vehicle.

The other option is, when you remove the key fob press the unlock button on the fob. Interior and exterior lights will illuminate for 30 seconds or so.

Welcome to the forum and good luck.

I have a "new to me" 2009. I never noticed if the interior light came on or not when I removed the fob from the ignition. I just went out and played, tried every which way from Sunday, and I could not get the lights to turn on when I removed the fob.
