2018 Ram 2500 screen is delaminating and given me set time constantly popping up! My truck has 34000 miles on it and is seldom driven and kept in the shop bc I have a work truck. Was told today by dealer it would be a $600 dollar fix since my warranty ran out in March. I really see it as a safety issue if you’re needing the defroster in a hurry and it’s popping up set time window repeatedly. I see lawsuits coming bc this will end up causing a crash or deaths if it hasn’t already!

FCA is somehow dodging a lawsuit, but @RamCares seems willing to work with us.

Also, $600 isn't that bad, I was quoted $1300 for mine 3 months ago, at 65k.

What defroster can you only get to from the screen? Does the 2500 not have a physical button? Both of my defroster (front and mirrors) have a physical control in my 1500 Rebel.

Look into replacing the screen, there a few threads on this subject, just a couple of them here:

+1 on what Crash posted. The 2018s had a bad bunch of screens which are manufactured by LG. New improved screens also made by LG are available on eBay around $400. It’s not difficult to replace the screen, removal of some trim, few bolts and screws and a few ribbon cables. If interested in pricing out the parts the new improved screen part number are:
LA084X01 (SL)(02)
or
LA084X01 (SL)(03)

DO NOT USE any part that ends in 01 as those are the original defective screens.
These part numbers are not Mopar part numbers, they are LG part numbers.

You may also want to try a different dealer as in my case I live in a medium sized metro area. We have several CDJR dealerships. My 2018 8.4 screen delaminated after the warranty expired. I went to the closest Ram dealer and they quoted $1100 for repair. They also have a poor reputation so I typically use the local Jeep/Chrysler dealer. Went to the Jeep dealership and the service advisor said they have seen “dozens and dozens” of 2018 delaminate. Their standard practice is to request a good faith replacement with a refurbished radio. It took one day for approval and there was a $100 deductible. Two weeks later they replaced my defective radio with a refurbished radio with a one year warranty. Out of curiosity I wanted to see if the screen on the refurbished radio was the new part. I pulled it out of the dash and removed enough hardware to see the part number and sure enough it had an (02) part number screen. It’s been in about 15 months now and no issues. If you have the ability to try a different dealer you may find resolution.

Contact @RamCares here on the forum first. They have been getting these fixed out of warranty for customers with factory installed radios.

Is there any reason to get the 02 over the 03? Or the 03 over the 02? My usual reaction would be to get the 03, as it should be the "newest", but...

I don’t know of any difference between the 02 and 03. My refurb 8.4 has an 02 replacement screen. I’m assuming the 03 is just a newer production run of the 02 but I could be way off base. My 02 screen has been perfect for almost 18 months now so personally if I could get the 02 for less than the 03 I’d go in that direction.

I'm going through the same thing as you, only my radio and HVAC system is going haywire. AC is switching vents now, turning the temperature up and down. Radio keeps selecting Sirius.

I called my local Dodge dealer and not only did they tell me my warranty is up and they would not replace the delaminated radio, but without even looking at my rig they were going to charge me a $340.00 diagnostic fee.

Good faith replacement seems not to be in their vocabulary. Purchased a few vehicles from this dealer too.

$340 Diagnostic?! What state/city is this? Maybe @RamCares can help you as well. Many folks on here have had a similar story to yours but have been helped out of warranty.

Wow, for $340 just buy a replacement screen and DYI. That’s crazy for a diagnostic fee. Maybe try a different dealer.

No. I have an extended warranty that will cover this radio. Trying to explain this to the woman that took my call was a bit frustrating. I generally like this dealer. The salesman that I deal with is great as is the sales manager. The parts guys are great too. The service department, not so much.
