2016 2500 5.7. took the intake off and disconnected the TB. Now I get a msg that the TB needs serviced. Will only rev to 3000. Tried some of the key on peddle resets but no joy. Do I need to take it to a dealer, get a new TB? Any ideas? Thanks

Did you disconnect the battery while working on it. If not Try disconnecting the battery for 5-10 minutes. Maybe that will reset things. I just cleaned my tb on my 6.4 and didn’t have an issue but I did disconnect the battery while doing it.

Hi, Tried clearing any codes with my reader, disconnected the pos and neg battery and touched them together to clear any remaining power in the ecu. broke down and ordered a new TB. I guess the TPS gets screwed up when you mess with the TB. No way to adjust the thing on this gen TB. Earlier generations you can take it off and install a new TPS. Ill let you know if the new TB works. Pretty expensive experiment.

Check the pins in the connector over really close for corrosion or bends. I fought a TB issue and it turned out it was the connector itself. The dealer used to carry a repair kit for the connector .

Good advice. I never checked for corrosion or bent pins over 20 years then replaced a starter on my daughters car. After three different starters failed to work so I finally looked inside the connectors and sure enough a pin was bent way off to the side not making contact. Wasted an entire day but got really good at removing and installing a bolt and nut in the blind with one hand laying on my back twisted sideways lol

Gary make sure you disconnect the battery before disconnecting the TB
