When I bought my 2020 Limited with Ecodiesel I found out three oil changes were included in the package at no charge. I know I didn't pay extra as I got the truck about $12 Grand under MSRP. It was good for 24 months and had no problem getting that done as the truck is only 20 months old and I have 38,000 miles on it. I checked into the Mopar website and found that I could get prepaid oil changes, 3 in a package good for 24 months for $340, tax included. With the cost of an oil change on the Ecodiesel being north of $175 I decided to take advantage. I have no problem with a reputable dealer doing my oil changes because if any issues arise from technician error the truck goes back to that dealer. I have a good relationship with the dealer and the service advisors so I know I will have recourse if there are any issues with workmanship.
HELPS having a good dealership and good SA. I am fortunate, have good SA also, but my now 4 YOA ride is a driveway princess with 20,400 on Odometer, LOL. But I also have the oil changed every 5,000 miles and tires rotated also.

Hackensack Ford in NJ did the same. Said I was too late so I lost the free change. I said use the next coupon then, "Can't, you're too early." All dealers are jerk offs I think walking out sometimes is the thing to do.
Thats a pretty broad generalization. Any time we use the word "All" in a sentence its almost always wrong. (Note that "always" is just as bad unless you put "almost" in front of it. ) I happen to like my dealer. I first dealt with their Chevy dealership and more recently with the same company's Ram/Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep dealership right across the street. I still remember the time I took my 2014 Corvette in there to their Quick Lane with a bad tire (bad sidewall on a run-flat tire). They got me two new tires - I replaced front only - the same day and for a lower price than my favored on-line place. The tires cam in late in the day. This was the Saturday of the three day 4th of July weekend that year. The Quick Lane guys actually stayed late, after normal closing time, to get my tires on so I had my toy for the rest of the long weekend. After that, I never took the Vette anywhere else and have always been happy with them. So when I decided to get the oil changed on my Ram, it was a no brainer to take a chance on their Ram shop. Their prices are also about the same as the local quick change places. On the Vette they are actually cheaper. It was $88 for an oil change, keeping in mind the Vette gets 10.5 quarts of Mobil One.

So certainly, if they lie to you, don't trust them. But don't generalize all dealerships because of the bad ones. I've found that our local Valvoline is really horrible doing the hard sell on things like air filters, wiper blades, fuel system cleanings (even on cars where the manual specifically says DO NOT USE fuel additives). When my wife takes her car in there (because they are faster) I tell her "no matter what they try to sell you, just write it down and tell them NO! When she gets home Ill check the air filter myself. My local Chevy and Ram dealers are actually MUCH better about this than the Valvoline and Jiffy Lube crowd.

I have no problem with the oil change purchases, cost 39.00 per change. Also I'm not running any kind or brand of oil in my vehicle for 10,000 miles no matter what the book or dealer or manufacturer says. And I don't care what others say because it's too cheap and I like clean oil. My truck would have five oil changes in your 20,000 miles. Most of the package oil changes have a two year expiration date and they keep you updated by email or text on expiration and need for oil change. Stop being a tightwad and get your oil changed at least every 5-k miles.

I would never trust a oil change package for $99 for 3 oil changes. That would not even cover the cost of synth oil so you know they are using the cheapest off brand oil they can find and filters.

6.4 2017 now at 96K mi. Did all my own oil change's (except one) and went with oil sample reports. Was in a time crunch, took to the dealer, went on a trip, 100 miles down the road, smoke billowing in the rear view, pull over oil dripping from the filter, loose , not just a little, way loose. Under the truck on the side of the highway now low 1/2 qt, dress clothes ruined.
Took pictures, when I went back to dealer, they were sorry and offered me 2 free oil changes, and a car wash. Went back for the turn signal cam not working, and for the free oil change. When I picked it up said they could not get the turn signal to do it. And they forgot to change the oil. Left the dealers lot, turned left and it still didn't work. Not been back since.

I would have walked away, but I was in a bind. I had to trade in my 2010 ram and 2015 Jeep tail hawk in order to get out from under the Jeeps loan. the jeep was a certified vehicle from another car lot (low Book sales in SLC) and they would not cover the bad zf9 transmission some of them were plagued with.
This was also when there were virtually no vehicles on any dealer lots.

either way, I'm glad at this point I don't have to deal with it anymore.

Never trust dealer oil changes first of all lol .... and if you do decide to get your oil changes done at a dealership, mark the oil filter before you take it and check the oil after you get it back ... they don't always change the oil I can say that from experience lol ...
Some of those packages say OIL CHANGE, not Oil and Filter change, or oil, lube and filter ETC.

Lol, you are better off going to Walmart for an oil change it's cheaper, you can pick your oil and if you want, you can watch them do it.

I've also never heard of an oil change without a new filter.
It goes without saying.

So I bought my 0 mile, 2020 Ram new for my wife to drive. as of now only has 20000 miles on it so its due for oil change #2. So I call the dealer to set it up and they tell me my 3 oil changes that they forced me to buy are expired. this is such BS.

Story on oil changes;
When I bought the truck, they (Ken Garff West Valley in Utah) automatically added in 3 oil changes at 99.00. I told them to take it off because I do my own changes. They then proceed to say they can take it off but the price of the truck WILL increase by the 99.00, because its a courtesy that they take off 99 dollars so the oil changes can be added on. So I said that's was crap, but whatever.
So ya they have expired because I don't drive the truck enough for them.
I don't fall for the whole "oil goes bad after a few month of limited driving" especially with synthetic oils.
I'd try reporting them to corporate. I don't know whether that would help but at least it would let them know what kind of crap their dealers are pulling.

Good Luck!

Walt

If you can't trust a dealership, and have proof this happened, than call 18009921997 They will take action. Or call the general manager and report it to him. Do not let dishonest work go unreported.

If you own an "italian Jeep" Renegade you can not get any oil filters at present time. All you can do is change the oil. So much for these crappy little fake Italian Jeeps!

That is different ... I have never seen a lube/oil change shop advertise oil changes without a filter lol... Now do they sometimes just flat out not change the oil filter? Yeeep ....but that right there is a ripoff and a crime ...

This is why you should demand to review the completed Purchase Contract before sitting down with the Finance Closer. Since this is a Legal Document, they have no justification for not allowing you that opportunity. When I did my review, I saw that Oil Service and Inspection add on, but it also said "Optional" deep in the verbiage. In came the Ass't Mgr., then the Manager who both claimed it is standard and part of the price. I said "No, its optional and I am exercising my option". They got the impression they knew I would not be cowed and would walk, so they gave in and deleted it.

Too often people are intimidated by legal verbiage and fail to read and understand what they are agreeing to. If you are not sure, take it to a lawyer for advice. These are simple contracts/ Purchase agreements and won't cost you much, but it really isn't that difficult to understand if you remove the stars in your eyes.

Yes it does pay to look things over carefully for the fine print !
When I picked up my used 2015 RAM in 2016 is was marked down 5k$.
I did finance some. With the loan officer doing the paperwork she had the bill at the full price !
Good thing I caught it or I would have been tagged for 5k$ more !
