I would like to install a factory CD player in my 2016 Ram console. It currently has a 8.4 radio installed. I have a couple of questions.
1. Is the truck "pre-wired" for a CD player from the factory even though it did not come with one installed?
2. Is the installation a "plug and play" or does an additional wiring harness need to be purchased? If I need another harness are they only available from Ram?
3. Does the current radio need to be "flashed" by a dealership to make the system operational?
4. If you've done this install what is the level of difficulty(is it a pain on the a**)?
Thank you for the information.
Jay

Pull the inside of the center console out to see if the plug for the CD player is there.
Once it's added you'll need to have the CD player added to the radio/BCM either by the dealership or use AlfaOBD.
The CD is part of the inner center console, most of the work will be taking the center console apart.
You can probably check the local salvage yards to find one as I doubt many people want a CD player.
You can save yourself a bunch of work and just rip your CDs into MP3s and play them in your 8.4 radio via a thumb drive.

You would need to change your jump seat or floor console and have the body control module reprogrammed.

I think I found the part number for the harness and it was around $150. I think that is out of my price range. I guess I'll keep singing to myself. Thanks, guys!!!!

Essentially what he is saying is you can copy your CDs to another media device in a file format called "MP3". You can then copy these files to a USB thumb drive and plug that into the center console USB hub and play music that way. Conversely, you can copy those same files to your phone and play them over the trucks Bluetooth connection as well wirelessly.

The aforementioned may require a more junior Marine to implement if it still reads Greek to you Teuful Hunden... ;)

Does anyone know what are the codes to enable on Alfa? I’m doing a limited interior on my single cab and my center console came with the cd player in it .
