We always got better mpg with a roof wind deflector on. You never see those anymore. Added bonus, no bugs on the front of the trailer.

They do help, especially with fifth wheels. The problem is 1. they're difficult to remove when you aren't towing (and look kinda dorky when not towing) and 2. every one I've seen has been hit at least once because whoever is still building them hasn't taken into account the changes that have happened with trucks and RVs over the years. My FIL had one on his last F450, and we had to rebuild the entire support structure to move the air dam forward about 8 inches just to make it clear the camper by about 2 inches when cornering.

I also have a 3.6 in my '17 Laramie 4x4 CC. With the 3.55 ratio I have a larger towing capacity, but I don't think I've ever towed more than 4200 lbs. My biggest tow trips were when I hauled my '70 Beetle about 120 to my engine builder and back. The trailer is a 7x14 cargo trailer and my Beetle weighs about 1850 lbs. I took 2 lane roads on the way down never going over 55. On the way back about half the trip was Interstate, but I still stayed at 55. Loaded I got 11.5 and empty I got 11.6. I think your numbers are about what can be expected.
