I was recently telling a co worker about AlfaOBD and that it's basically a starscan and could perform dealer options. I mentioned that I could do a few things on his 2017, 2500 (6.4), if he wanted.. Fog drop etc. Then he asked if Alfa would allow him to remove his radio and allow the truck to start..?? He said that he had read/saw on youtube something about removing the radio, needs to be done by a dealer or the truck won't start. I know Alfa will retrieve a 4 digit pin but I've never heard of the dealer removal stuff. I just sold my 2016 and looked into radios for it at one time, and never heard anything of it. I think he's mistaken but I thought I'd check. I searched and found nothing...

Never heard of that and I know there are quite a few people on here that have removed and replaced radios with no issues. Maybe someone who has will chime in.

The truck will run and drive with the radio completely removed.

The big issue with removing the radio is that there are some vehicle settings that are controlled/stored in the radio that will no longer function. I don't know what the default is if the radio is gone but maybe someone else can chime in. There are key off light settings and key off door lock settings among others. I was watching a video on you tube where they put tube doors on a Jeep. The after market radio was causing the battery to die and I believe the cause was without the door switch and radio settings, the radio was staying on.
