My driver vent temps hover between 50-52, the passenger side is 46-48. The HD trucks are a little different as we still have R134, so not sure what else is different in the system. I personally have noticed it only seems to be an issue with cooling when the truck has sat in the sun all day. The black dash is so hot it’s painful to touch and takes forever to cool off. If I park in the shade it seems to be fine and cools off the cab pretty quick.

What’s the consensus on what the driver side vent should read? Maybe I should take it in to be checked for adequate charge.

The charge is fine, pinch the heater hose going to the heater core and you will be amazed what the temp out of the vent will be! Back in the 70s cars had a valve on the heater hose to turned off the flow of coolant to the dash. When heat was required the valve was cable or vacuum operated and opened. Now days, there is simply a blend door that's supposed to close off completely if max cold is selected. Unfortunately, the new Rams have a blend door that let's hot air past.

I would love to see a picture of the blend door on the new Ram. I think that would answer a lot of questions. Probably poor engineering if I had to guess.

But, it really doesn't matter to me anymore. I no longer own my 2019 all new problems Ram 1500.

There is a fix!!! Been fighting this for 3 years and Mopar will not share this. Google TSB 24-001-20! It’s a TSB put out that is the fix for a poor design problem. Armed myself with the TSB, called Ram Cares and got a case

Armed myself with the TSB, called Ram Cares and got a case number just in case I had some resistance from the dealer. My dealer ordered the part and will be in next week, will take the truck in and have this dome. Basically they have to open the dash and replace and update components, takes about 6 hours and will be paid for by Mopar. My truck is still under warrantee, but should not matter. This is a design flaw.

Gonna take longer than 6 hours. Count on at least a full day, maybe 2. They pull the dash out completely, pull all the HVAC parts to include motors out, re so, reposition, add, etc sensors and such then gotta put all back together again. It helps, But U are not gonna get Freezer Locker temps, just saying, do not ask how I know, have enclosed a pic.

A/C was crappy so I took it to the dealer at the end of last camping season. All they did was recharge the system with all new freon. This year, crossing South Dakota at 100 degrees outside, nice and cool 65 degrees inside.... Sometimes the simplest solution is the correct one.

Too my 22 gives vent temps between 48-50 degrees when outside temp was 72-78, got told if I want colder temps I need to put max AC on and put air to center vents only, they claim it will get down to 45 :(, told the guy that's BS being my old 06 would give 38 degree temp without max AC at 85 degrees outside because the fresh air door broke off years ago :) he did not like what I told him, then tried well the 06 must of had R12 Freon, told him no it had the same R134a the 22 has he was quite then said FCA had a chart that shows it meet their specs for vent temps, anyway they claim the AC system is fully charged based on gauge readings :( its the worst AC I have ever had in a Dodge/Ram product in 30+ years of owing Dodge vehicles..

Your 2022 prob has 1234Y Refrigerant, not 134A. They changed over to using the environmentally friendly R1234yf in some as early as 2015, almost all by 2017/2018.

See attached photo showing 134a
Interesting, LOL, but then I have not looked under the hood of a Diesel since MY 15 ED, wish I still had R 134A, cools a heck of a lot better than the EPA friendly R1234y. I have some 134A still here at house, and unfortunately MY 19 1500 has the friggin 1234Y junk ola.

Think its because the HD comes from MX where 1500 come from the US where the luney toons run the EPA...

Honestly, have no clue, but I would think EPA rules apply to imported for sale to US, always see/learn something on these threads. May be why my Info URL folder is monstrous. Makes me jealous U have the better R 134A, and I got looney tunes 123456789, etc friggin EPA refrigerant. Made me have to go outside and pop the hood of my truck and verify what I was saying, at least on my red beast.

WELL, I had the TSB done ref the AC and it helps some. When it gets stupid hot here I just clamp off the Water Pump outlet hose to the heater core, since they Redesigned the system and took away the HCV, using BS blend doors so those cores are always heated up and the AC trying to get past it. I do have a manual valve to put in, but since my ride is a Driveway Princess, not in any hurry.

ADDED: I do have 1 X 50mph cooling on my 3 wheeler, LOL.

Ditto on my 2022, 2500 tradesman long bed. Takes its time getting "Cool". Just another disappointing thing on this "Beautiful" truck. Pulls to the right,,clunking trans, drive train vibration,,dealer cant duplicate any of the issues. My label say 134A that everyone is saying is better than 1234A. But still have the cooling problem. Anyone have the issue when you duct the air to floor only, nothing comes out.??????

Well I get my 2019 2500 Laramie delivered to me on Monday so I’m curious as to what I’m gonna get. I HAVE to have very cold AC not just because I currently live in Texas (relocating soon) but because I get hot very easily—75 degrees outside is hot to me so this **** better blow ice ******* cold. Been this way ever since my back surgery and nerve damage.
