I have a 2014 Ram and the wipers came on when I was not home. I pulled the fuse. After checking a few things like hooked up a new wiper motor. That did nothing so I bought the switch on the collum and they finally went off. However while driving today they started on their own and stopped. Went to my grandsons football game and came back and they were stopped in the middle of the windshield. Can anyone give me a clue on what to check

All i can think of is:

The Multifunction Switch may have a wire connected that may be shorted out
or
It is not an OEM Switch & poorly made

I looked at the RockAuto website

Multifunction Switches are either branded
MOPAR

Shee Mar, an older company in the USA, ( 2 year warranty )

& a 3rd company called WVE, Wells Vehicle Electronics that the parent company is NGK, known for their spark plugs

I'm curious, is there any rust and/or corrosion around the ground connections near the battery box? Any on the ground connection of the wiper motor?

When I purchased my 2004 brand new ,it turned wipers on while locked sitting in my driveway. It would cycle a few strokes then return home. It would do this when driving down the road or parked .did it off and on for the ten years I owned it , I don’t trust dealers so never let them touch it for such a minor reason. Sometimes could be six months or more for lt to reoccur .

I'd probably
1) Unhook both battery cables and tie them together and leave overnight. That would drain the TIPM (computer) and the rest of the modules. Make sure the body and power grounds are good. Because the current goes from Neg -> Pos.

2) Carefully inspect the wiring carefully around the engine compartment in case some rodent chewed wires. Even under the TIPM? If you get that far, remove the TIPM board and inspect carefully for any corrosion or oddities, on the actual circuit board and with the connectors/wiring. There are youtube videos how to inspect/remove Ram TIPM computers. There 'should' be a BCM on the inside firewall driver's side and I suspect the wipers are controlled by that (but I don't know for sure). Hopefully someone else will chime in who's dealt with wipers.

3) Using a meter or test light, are you getting a 12v 'run' signal at the fuse?

4) I'd probably try a new Mopar switch.

Sorry I can't help more. Did you do a general Google search of your problem?

No it's all good, I could unplug the wiper motor and put some electric grease in it
I only ask because I had a similar issue (mine was horns, not wipers, but both run through the TIPM where they have relays sitting). My horns would just go off, whenever, wherever. I thought it was the TIPM, when it was nothing more than rust/corrosion buildup. I cleaned all the ground connections around the battery box with a wire brush and dremel, and reconnected with white grease. Replaced both horns (cause those factory ones were just not worthy of being reinstalled) but utilized the factory bracket for the new horns. Cleaned the bracket to metal, matte black paint, rescuffed the connection points, and installed with white grease. And haven't had a single issue since. I hope your issue is as easily resolved as mine was. But it is at least worth looking at...

Had this problem in my 06 2500 bought a OEM switch and all was well for many months, but once in a while on a cool rainy winter day it would run a few seconds after shut off but it always stopped where it should...
