2022 Ram 3500 SRW 4x4 68RFE, 200 miles. Please share any useful thoughts... In the morning when first start the engine and select reverse the transmission is slow to engage. The engine revs, but no movement. After about 20-30 seconds it finally engages. From then on it functions normally. What does this indicate? Thanks.

Any leaks, have you checked the oil level ? This is not good, get it to the shop.

After start up do you give the engine 60 seconds or more before you drop in into gear, your the trans needs that time to to fill the valve body & other parts with fluid before its ready to move..

No. I barely get it started before I try to roll. I'll try waiting a moment and see how it goes, thanks.

That is not normal, get it to the dealer and take advantage of that warranty.

Now when I had my 3500 that equipped with the aisin tranny it would do that sometimes after it had set for day or two. Now with my last two 2500s, with the 68RFE never had that happen ever, and I dont DD my trucks they sit sometimes for weeks at a time.

I disagree, I have had it happen in my 2022 if I do a start and drop into gear if it has been sitting for more then 24 hours, also it's not really a good idea to just start up a diesel engine and instantly drop it into gear and hit the accelerator, but once in a while I get in a hurry during the warm months and not wait, so the trans reminds me with hesitation before moving, I also had the same thing happen in my old 2006 re48 trans, btw I'm not the only person it has happened too...

Thanks all for the input. Letting it idle for a bit didn't seem to help. I checked the transmission fluid level and it was low. I also spoke to the dealership and they want to check it on Thursday since it's under warranty. They asked that I not top off the fluid before they look at it.
Meanwhile, yesterday and this morning it shifted into reverse normally so now I'm more at a loss for ideas. I update this thread after I get it back from the dealership.

Could be the anti drain valve or what ever they call it. Basically it keeps fluid in the torque converter. If it allows fluid to drain out of it then it has to refill before it will engage. It's not normal function no matter how many people this happens to.

How low is it pint, quart? I would limit how much I drove it until looked at if fluid level is more then a qt low... Being you have so few miles I wonder if the dealer even did a proper PDI to be sure all fluids were topped off before it was delivered to you, I've read of a several people who have found low fluid levels with no visible leaks within the first few months of ownership...

Just picked it up from the dealership. They said there were no mechanical issues but that the PCM needed updating so they reprogrammed it to version 52371231AG. The technician said the fluid level was fine and it looked and smelled good. The owners manual said to check the level while in park but I was told they checked it in neutral (which is how I've always done it in on other vehicles). Maybe I was confused.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions and ideas. I'll let you know if this fix actually works.

Update: The new PCM code did not fix the issue (as most of you probably suspected). I filled the trans fluid to the correct level. No change. It finally threw a check engine light; P0944, P0868. It's at the dealership now. They changed the filter and it was on a test drive last I heard. It has only 1,197 miles on it so this must be a production defect.

Thanks again for all the input.

To summarize:
1) New PCM code? Still broke.
2) New filter? Still broke.
3) New pump? Made it worse.
4) Brand new transmission? Yep, that fixed it.

Glad it was under warranty.
