My 2019 3500 tradesman Uconnect 5.0 lost all sound. I spent a day searching for a solution. I’ve tried several resets. Still no sound. I’m at 37,400 miles so no warranty. I don’t want to change out the radio because I have 3 different trailer towing setups for the brake controller.

Any ideas on a fix for this? Has anyone had a dealer look into this issue and ballpark cost?

TIA. Ray

Unless something has changed I believe this information is stored in the BCM, not the radio. I know the miles for each trailer towed is also saved and is displayed on the EVIC.
Even still just write down the set gain percentage for the stored trailer, it's easy enough to put back.

Do you know if there are any differences in the trailer setup. I have 1 heavy electric over hydraulic, 1 for heavy electric, and 1 for light electric.

I thought the different designations multiplied the gain settings. At least that is what the dealer told me.

There is an option to do the Infomat upgrade. But if it’s not the head unit. I still may not have sound.

I would say start with the simplest, or the cheapest fixes first. If there is an uconnect update, you should be able to do that yourself and it's free, if that doesn't work, then you can try the next... did the sound just stop, or was it intermittent for a while then die?

I had an odd issue happen a few weeks ago. The radio would just loose power. It would come on and then die again. After a couple of hours, everything was back to normal.

The radio worked fine for weeks Got in the truck the other morning, no sound. Am Fm or Aux Or phone calls.

Is there a way to update a Uconnect 5.0?

A similar type thing happened with my 8” uconnect. First try to pull the fuse in the engine bay for the radio. If that doesn’t work, which it didn’t for me, next pull the head unit and unplug the speaker harness then plug it back in. That fixed mine, well I pulled the rear speakers and my front harness looking for this fix but pulling the harness will in essence do the same. Just a thought.

If your truck is a 19, it is U connect 4, U connect 5 started on the 2022, or so FCA says. Have you searched and tried a soft reboot on the radio?

I’ll give it a try. TY for the suggestion. I’m still searching for the amp location. I read you can disconnect the connectors and maybe reboot it.

There differences in how the trailer brake controller applies the brakes based on trailer type also.
Be on cautious side with Infotainment, many members have had issues with the radio upgrades and customer service. Your better off to buy a radio from the dealership, it's plug and play. Despite what Infotainment states there is nothing to program to get the radio to work in your vehicle, the radio reads the configuration from the BCM.

My amp is aftermarket. Unless you have the alpine, you won’t have an amp.

Update. Finally got in to the dealer. Replaced radio and still no sound. Now dealer says it’s the noise cancelation amplifier. I do have an extended warranty so far. It’s only going to be 100$

The only reference to this part is it is causing humming or static. Anyone ever had one of these go out.

Update. I have been told that the part is available and have been given 3 different part arrival dates. Still no part and the dealer has been completely useless in helping to solve the issue. Today I was told that if I wanted it escalated. I would have to do that on my own. I’m calling the warranty company tomorrow to see what my options are and to make sure they deny any claims submitted by this dealer for this issue.

Needless to say I’m looking for a reputable dealer in the St. Louis area. If anyone has any suggestions please relay them. As long as it’s not the dealer in Ofallon Mo. TIA

A big thank you to Ram Care. After the dealer spent zero effort to follow up with the part needed I asked the service writer if they could escalate the process and find out where why the part keeps getting lost. I was told I would have to do that on my own. I would understand if they were to busy. But I’ve been there for over 6 hours and watched 4 service writers service 3 cars.

Ram Care came through and within 48 hours the dealer had the part. Install took about an hour.
