Just changed the oil on my 2017 Ram--usually buy 2 5 quart containers of PUP--emptied one of the containers and looked in the bottom of the yellow container and saw some sediment--it had been sitting on my shelf since last oil change-usually just empty container left from last oil change-2 quarts and new 5 quart container-Contacted Shell and they said this was normal--just settling of some of the additives in the oil-no problem using it--do you all agree

I have read the same thing, and not sure if it is unique to Shell. I'd never heard of this when I was with Mobil, but perhaps there are some newer additives that are in suspension instead of solution.

If so, yes, shaking up the oil before using is important these days. I do this with all oil now. Maybe somebody here is more up to date on additive mixing than me.

I see it in the bottom of my PUP bottles. It's normal.

When I buy I look at the dates on the bottles and get the newest available in hopes there will be less sediment on the bottom.
