I saw a used one at a dealer yesterday, 1 year old (I didn't see the miles, but looked real low), Bighorn QC. $46,999 is what they had for an asking price on it.

4x4? 1500?

nearby dealers here are selling 2500's for msrp and are taking a few thousand off 1500's.
Yeah, the 1500's don't seem to have the same supply chain and transportation issues that the HD's do. There are plenty of new 1500's on our local CDJR dealers lots, and have been for a while. New, well optioned HD's are still pretty unusual, and still sell quickly for at least MSRP.

Sold a 2013 1500 tradesman to a dealer last spring for high retail. No one seemed interested trying to sell it myself. I'm happy.

Yep. Prices these days are crazy. Bought my 2016 Rebel few months ago for $36k. With 95,000 miles on it. Granted it’s loaded with few nice aftermarket add ones. But it still hurts thinking about price.

Interest rates have affected used vehicle prices. More new vehicles are available now. I am seeing a softening in the used vehicle market and it feels like we are headed towards a more normal market.

A few days ago I got offered $26K trade in allowance for my 2019 Ram 1500 classic SLT CC hemi, 4x4 with 60K miles on it. I bought as a 1yr old ex-rental with 15K miles on it for $27K. It's got a cracked w/s, the usual dings and scratches of a DD, needs rear brakes soon, etc. Keeping her.

I bought my 2018 big horn 4x4 cc in July 2019 with 30k miles on it for 26.5k iirc. It's worth nearly that in trade supposedly but getting another newer one would cost a lot. I'm keeping this one at least a few more years. Only have 64k on it right now.

Yes it was. Toyota dealer. They had almost no new vehicles on the lot. Had some SUVs and used trucks though. In this town good trucks on lots are pretty bare...

[EDIT:] I mis-typed ...that truck was a CC (4-dr)...

I hope we learn from the overseas dependency to serve the American commercial needs. While I’m glad the chip plants and other products are starting to come back, it will take years to outfit and start producing.

I heard Bruce’s S. Song my hometown. The line that the jobs are leaving and they ain’t coming back I hope is a thing of the past.

l wouldn't sell mine for $75,000.... It has a high resale and value, but can't put $$$ on this one and what it is to me as it keeps getting more personal attachments added

I would fight with your insurance company if only wanting cap at original MSRP, all the total losses we see in our body shop pay out at NADA Retail value (Now JD Power Retail) at time of total loss. That value will reflect the increase since new. Good luck.

I’m in upstate NY. Dealers act like they are doing you a favor selling you a 2500 at MSRP. Where are you seeing dealers selling them at 4% under invoice?

Same, I will be happy if when my new ram comes in I get any incentives…and my 2022 4 runner which ‘holds its value’ lost $4,000 in less than a year and 6,000 miles later. I don’t see where people are getting $5,000 + over value for 5 year old trucks either. Maybe it’s just New York what do I know.

If you can afford new , its a bargain , though a decently equipped rig is about 70K now. So , 30-35 is not much in comparison. But yes compared to what they sold for new a few years ago, they are fetching a fortune. However, please remember we are seeing some genuine inflation, check housing prices , food prices etc. You cannot dump this much printed moneyin the system and expect things to be as they used to. I think even where we see these nice used 4-5 year old trucks fetching 35- 45k, the true value with inflation is probably there. Yes if you bought about new 3-4 years ago, you got a heck of bargain by todays prices. I paid 40k for a truck with over 80k on it. but is close to maxed out in equip.

Granger CDJR near Des Moines, IA and Mark Dodge CDJR in Lake Charles, LA. You'd probably have to fly in to drive it home, lots of folks do that. But that's easy to pay for when you're saving 5 figures off MSRP.

And the deal is only available on trucks you order through them. Not on their inventory.

Trucks may never be affordable again with the triple whammy of supply chain shortages (pandemic + just-in-time inventory driven), overstimulus spending, excess profiteering by corporations taking advantage of material shortages, and the EV mandates.

It's a brave new world out there. Which is why I plan to keep mine and milk it.
