Hey all- considering canceling my order on the 37x13.5r17 and doing 12.5 width instead to avoid trimming as much and pinch weld modding.

Do 37x12.5’s look like pizza cutters? That’s my concern. Would love some pics if anyone has them!

I have 37x13.50R17 Ridge Grapplers mounted on 17x9's and have always liked the wider tires. I think the Ridge Grapplers run a little on the "big" side compared to some of the other tires. To be honest if I did it again would probably go with 12.50's for the exact concern you have. My wheels are also not the ideal offset for clearance so have trimmed a good bit on the front fenders (on the rear side, the pinch weld and plastic liner) and have to take another look at it. Spent a bunch of time awhile back and flexed it out in a ditch to check for clearance, but last weekend just pulling into a parking lot with a steep approach/curb I thought I heard some tire scrub on plastic so need to look again.
This is a '16 PW with Thuren 1.5" front springs and a 1" rear spacer. Rims are Pro Comp 17x9 wheels with -6 offset (versus the +20 to +25 that places like CJC state are ideal). I would be curious to see how they fit with a different wheel but just can't justify dropping $1,400+ on wheels.

Dang that is an aggressive offset! So I ordered the 37 x 12.5 Toyo open country’s. They’re going to be mounted on 17 x 9 with +18 offset. I’m happy to keep you updated and let you know the results in a few days

The -6 (to around 0 offset) is just the typical offset on that size wheel. I searched all over the place to see the options and they are very limited, and you would have to spend at least double to get anything like that.

Whatever I get my hands on faster. Everything is out of order. But I’m most likely getting the Toyo Open Country MTs
I had TOC MTs on a few company trucks and I loved them ... was going to get those or the Cooper STT Pros if the shop owner where I got my truck lifted didn't talk me into getting the Ridge Grapplers which I love and would recommend them to anyone ... but the TOC MTs are a nice looking tire and I love them too ..

I’ve also had the Toyo Open country’s as well and I agree, they’re probably my favorite. Aggressive/knobby as hell, tread lasts super long, and they’re actually quieter them so other mud terrains.

You have 13.5 wide tires on a 9" wheel? I guess you would notice the ride not being as good and wearing funny but since you didnt mention it, maybe not. Just saying 10" wheel is best.

Pizza cutters, mmmm maybe a little bit but honestly mostly in photos. In life, I don't ever think so, but them dudes run'n 14 wide on a -44 offset probably think nuthin but cutters. Lol

I know you already picked your tires, I hope you post photos after they're mounted I'd like to see.

Mine are KM3 which are notoriously small for the advertised size, an outstanding tire though. I ran 35" Mickeys before these. I'm not sure if I'll get 40k miles out of the KM3.

I wanted the 13.5 when I bought 12.5s but for the reasons you guys have already listed plus the additional weight. I cant remember exactly where my setup lands but the 12.5 KM3 was one of the lighter 37" tires especially among the upper echelon tires. I think my wheel tire combo is pushing 115lb per corner and that's just a lot of rotational mass, don't care how many hamsters are turning each one.

The thing that made it the hardest to choose the 12.5 initially was the $150 more per tire cost than the 13.5. And I bought 5. But I'd do it again if they make it to 40k miles, if not I'm with y'all on the TOC. I think cheechdog's TOCs look wider than mine.

How many miles are yall planning/hoping for on the TOC MT?

A 9" wide wheel is an approved rim size for that size tire, that's on Nitto's website. For a 37x13.50R17 BFG Mud Terrain it lists an 8.5" wheel as acceptable. I think the comment that a 10" wheel is best is somewhat arguable. I will say that if you put the average person in a truck and switched the wheels out between 9" and 10" wide they wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
I ran 2 sets of 285/75R16 BFG AT's (about 11.5" wide) on my last truck, the first set on the factory 6.5" wide wheels and the second set on 8" wide aftermarket wheels. Didn't notice any difference at all except had to trim a little for the 8" wide wheels as they rubbed when turning. The set on the "too narrow" factory wheels lasted close to 50k miles, and no obvious difference in wear with the wider wheels. They had around 35k miles with the 8" rims when I sold the truck and would of guessed about the same total wear as the narrow rims. And you will love this.....I run an 8" wide rim with 15.5" wide tires on my off-road truck. Granted I don't put a lot of road miles on it but have had this setup for years and it works great for what it is. Another buddy also ran the same 8" rims on 15.5" wide tires and drove it to the trail on many 200+ mile round trips.

Mine are not TOCs, they are Ridge Grapplers ... I already have 25k on these and I expect another 25k out of them ...
