Anyone have issues with the 12 inch screen not turning on? Screen is just black. No radio, backup camera, etc. This has happened before. I turned the truck off and re-started it and it came on. Not this time. drove to work in stone silence this morning. 23,000 miles on it.

I have a 2020 2500 with only 6000 miles on it it has happened to me once. I shut it off and waited a minute and then started it again then it worked. is this something that needs to be fixed?

I have a 2020 Laramie 1500, mine did that, and the dealership has a new radio ordered for it, I hope the new one lasts!

My 2022 Ram 2500 only has 250 miles on it. I have had the black screen twice now. Both times it has just disappeared randomly. This time when parked with vehicle in ACC mode listening to Linkin Park (I swear!). Very disappointing to say the least. I followed the instructions for resetting it while vehicle was off and it did come back on. But, after reading some of the comments on the forum, I am starting to worry. Weird part was the AC continued to blow while the screen was black and there was no Comfort button displayed to turn it off. 12 inch screen.

When I bought mine truck last month. The finance manager has a 2021 2500 with the 12in screen. He told me there is some software bugs in it and they are working on a update. He said don't worry if mine does it the new update will fix it. He couldn't tell me when the update was coming but his does it. Knock on wood mine has not done anything and I am just over 900 miles.

I have a brand new 2022 Diesel 2500, with all options. Only 1,500 miles. The 12 inch screen has gone blank on 3 different occasions in the last 2 weeks. It then starts up again randomly.....sometimes on the next off/on, but sometimes only after a day has gone by and sometimes after I turn the truck on and off 3 or 4 times.
WTF.......on this very expensive truck ????

If you hold the volume and the browse down at the Same time it will force a restart. Then I found if you do that open the drivers door it will come back on. This has only happened to me twice and I was sitting in my truck playing with buttons and cycled my key a few times.

Hey CaliMan, what reset instructions did you follow? We had our 2019 3500 in for some service (replaced the air filter) and the next day our 12" display went blank (no radio, won't play a CD, no Nav) but AC buttons light up.

I know this post is a little old. I hope this helps. My 12 inch screen went out. I work with my truck so needing the screen is a must especially for my wife. I tried all the tricks of restarting the truck, hard cycling the screen, nothing would work. I took the truck to the dealer. They took my truck to the shop and brought it back 30 minutes later. They claimed to have checked for codes, hard restarted the screen with their diagnostic computer, and updated the software. The dealer stated if it happened again the radio would have to be replaced. Two week lead time on the radio.

22 Rebel 1500 with 8900 miles on it. Just got it and this has happened one time so far. The reboot mentioned above did not work. Shutting off for a few minutes...nothing. Shut off for a few hours and it came back...damn gremlins. Looking forward to this "bug fix"...being in IT i know one bug fix creates another bug. We'll see...

It’s my turn for the blank screen bug. So far it’s not back as it just happened on my way to a Dr Appt. Let’s see if it comes back. The IT people at RAM need to get their stuff together. Hey @RamCares you should share an update when and how these issues will be fixed. This is too common an issue not to share something.

Looking at 2 different 2022’s right now. Both equipped fairly equally. Both priced within $600.00 of each other. One has eTorque w/8.4” screen. One has non-eTorque w/12” screen. I’m Leary of the 12” screen. The eTorque thing just make me mad. May have to just keep looking.

If it were me I would not make a purchase decision on the screen. Unfortunately, bugs do happen and for me, the issues did not start until I had taken the software update. I'll interact with the ram cares guys and see what I find out. Today, it came back to life after sitting in the parking lot for an hour.

Hey Guys,

I had the same issue and did come up with a resolution. I have a 2019 Ram Laramie Longhorn in which the 12" display would not turn on. I tried the reset holding the volume/power button and tuner button down for 20 seconds but that did nothing. I tried disconnecting the Bluetooth and various other internet solutions which did not work. Ultimately, what ended up working was pulling the fuses in which I thought were to the display. For a list of the fuses and their description and location, use this link; RAM 1500 5th-Gen External and Internal Power Distribution Centers - Google Drive . I wasn't exactly sure which fuse was the right one based off of the descriptions so i pulled fuses F12, F24, F26, F27, and F44 and let the truck sit for 5 hours to allow time for any internal capacitors or batteries to die intentionally. After the 5 hours passed, i plugged the fuses back in (making sure they weren't blown first) and when I started my truck up, the display came right on. It was back to the factory settings but I could live with that. I would imagine disconnecting the battery would achieve the same result but you do in fact have a blown fuse, you'll never know. Ultimately, getting to the fuse box is easy. It is located under the steering column, has about 8 snap connectors and two 7mm screws that need to be removed.

Hope this helps!
