Are basic Ram 1500 classics really selling for ~$45K?

I am not ready to buy right now

But with Stellantis saying they are dropping the 3.0 ecodiesel ...

I wonder if that is just for the 5th Gens or 4th Gens too ?

My 2016 Ram 1500 Quad Cab EcoDiesel extended warranty expires in January 2023

The thing is, with all the recalls that was done, many of the recalled items now have a super long warranty

I have not had to pay for any repairs, not a single penny

The truck just runs too good to sell now, i had been thinking about trading it in come January 2024

My list has been rattling around in my head

Ram 1500 Classic Quad Cab Ecodiesel, 6' 4" bed

I have absolutely no room for a Crew Cab
I am not a fan of the 5th Gens

A Ram EV is useless to me, i need to travel at least 600 miles a day with only short stops to urinate & fill my travel cup with coffee & go again

200 miles at 70 mph = 3 hours in real time traffic

vehicles are only worth what you're willing to pay for it period.... I've said for years that IF a dealership could offer $10,000 - $20,000 in rebates then the vehicle was grossly overpriced to begin with, because they ARE going to make money on a sale.

So I had to look at my local low-priced dealer where I got my 2019 (pre-Covid and after the 2020's were out). I hope the link below works, but they have 1 basic new truck for $28,090--if it's not a trick that is. A long way from New York, PoMan, sorry.

I see that!

I'd have to have a quad cab 4x4 at a minimum and even at that dealer, that bumps their price up to $42K.

I was at NAS Ocenana yesterday for the Blue Angles air show and the local dealer had a quintet of Ram 1500s there. They started out at $68k and went up to $88k for the new hybrid. Thanks, but no thanks. If this is the future of pickup trucks, I'll be keeping my eye out for a pre '80 3/4 ton diesel 4x4 from now on.

I don't understand when someone says they want a basic 4x4 truck and then specifies a quad cab in a upgraded trim. A basic 4x4 is a Classic Tradesman standard cab short bed and go light on the options. You can spec such a vehicle with power windows, power locks, power mirrors, keyless entry, etc for a MSRP of $39,725 including destination. That's before any corporate incentives. There are always incentives. Below is the current factory offer. This is essentially $36k for a basic truck, not $46k for a basic truck. Even the 8ft bed option only adds $300 to the price. Adding a quad cab to a Tradesman adds $3200. Still nowhere near $46k. I'm very confident most people have a dealer nearby that will place an order at MSRP.

No one HAS to have a Warlock trim. Want a Warlock trim? Yes. But don't complain about the price and say it's a "basic" truck.

I ended up getting my fully loaded 2021 warlock new (missing only pushbutton start and proximity unlock) for 47k. It stickered at 56k, but the dealership added incentives to it after I said I was also looking at an f150 and also expressed interest in a diesel gladiator lol. I think they wanted the warlock gone more than the Jeep.

Because almost nobody actually wants a basic truck outside of fleet sales, which is why dealers don't stock them and manufacturers greatly curtail them.

I agree. Nobody wants the chicken when there is steak on the menu. I have an issue with people complaining that the steak costs more than the chicken.

I do like chicken and steak.

As I said throughout this thread, the only 2022 Ram classics available in my area are warlocks. Nearly every one is a QC 4x4, V6, which is why I use this configuration as an example.

You can 'build your own' all day long on the website, but the fact is, those trucks don't exist at the moment, nor does the possibility of qualifying for all those rebates.

The other thing that is more common than not, now more so than ever is a dealer showing a truck in stock, when it doesn't exist. I've had them tell me they have it when they don't, just to get you in there.

Try and buy a truck in Canada, 40 to 45K is a 2 year old lol pricing is ridiculous now
I just looked and an internet price on a 2022 Warlock with standard gear is $59450 at a high volume dealer. A new Tradesman was $46K

I agree basic trucks are not generally stocked at dealerships. That is why I had to order my 2021 Tradesman, standard cab short bed. Eight weeks later I took delivery of the truck. Delivery time would have been shorter if I had not chosen a couple options (bed liner and rambox). The two dealerships I walked into were both willing to place custom orders for whatever configuration I wanted, no questions asked. One was at MSRP, the other was $2k off MSRP.

So, if someone wants a basic truck, walk into a couple dealers, get competitive quotes for the exact configuration, negotiate and place your order. It's pretty simple. You don't have to pay $46k for a basic truck.

Very true.

One of the dealers I spoke with wouldn't even order a classic for me. They'd consider a dealer locate, but it was the same situation w/ everything in the mid $40K range for pentastar, 4x4, QC. (I have to have 4x4 and QC at a minimum) Every price quote was for MSRP.

Yes, Canadian, The web site I looked at was 2 of them, one from the Toronto area and one from an area just outside Toronto that claims they sell more trucks than anybody in Ontario. Not mentioning dealers because well they don't deserve it

Once you convert to U.S. dollars those prices seem to be right in line.

That’s how the lot looked at the dealer I ordered from, full of V6 warlocks & the 0% financing is for warlocks. I don’t get what is so different between a tradesmen and a warlock.
