I can be in my house, with a metal roof, 50 feet or more away in Kitchen and can still remote start. Depends upon factors like clear view, roof, electronics in area, etc.,. But I do not even open front door, grab keys in kitchen, hit remote, and wala. Heck, in a big parking lot like Walmart, parked near front of row, walk out door of store, hit button and truck open/start, just depends.
Yes , but I talking about opening the door with out the key, the keyless entry . I think that is real short range just 2 or 3 ft, I have not really checked. O.K. Just checked, if I set the fob on box rail at back, tail gate , I can't open the door, but it I set it mid box, at rear wheel , The locks will open. Never tried at front bumper .

It is a bad idea to hide a fob on the outside of truck. First, it will not
like the elements, and if found by a thief, they can open it and drive off.

Get a key made and hide that, then you can open it and use the fob inside.
The key alone is of no use to the thief, to steal the vehicle.
Haha...I didn't say that's what I do, it was just a suggestion. Like I already said, I keep my fob in my pocket. Even if I did do that it would be for a matter of a few hours, and during summer months. The fobs aren't that delicate. And if I did hide it somewhere on the truck, no thief would just happen to find it. The only way they'd even know to look for it would be if they saw me hide it.

By keyless, U talking where the RF receiver on the truck hub reads the FOB and unlocks the truck? If so, GL on that.

I guess, the fob is in my pocket and touch the door handle and the doors unlock
There is a little button to lock on the outside front handles
Remember mine is a 14 so not sure if newer are the same

My 2021 Ram 2500, and the 2020 Grand Cherokee are both the same as yours. I still say far and away the easiest solution is get a flat key cut for 3 bucks and tape it or put it in a magnetic case. Then no matter how you end up locked out with the FOB inside, you are good to go. If you want to leave the FOB in the truck, carry the valet Key or a flat key in your pocket. You can lock the door with the valet key, or push the silver knob on the drivers door down with all the other doors locked.

It is so simple I can't figure out why this topic keeps popping up and gets so many completely wrong posts. This stuff is even in the owner's manual, though God forbid anyone should read one of those.:33::)

I never said they didn't. It is easy enough to do. Has nothing to do with being smart. It is however VERY easy to make it simple to get back in if you do. Read my other posts on this thread please.
