Hey guys,

I'm looking for some insight here. I need to replace the rear passenger side brake hose on my 2015 Ram Big Horn. I first went to youtube which confused me even more than I already was. I guess I just want to be prepared before I take it apart and the video on youtube showed the guy having to cut the hard line and flare the old line to put the new one on. I see there are two nuts with a small bracket between them. From what I've seen online these do not separate. Is this a difficult job for a novice mechanic, or am I just seeing ****** info online?

Thanks for any help guys.

So replacing the lines is one thing. The other of course is the bleeding of that new line, to get the air out of it. Many times I have found that the bleeder on the brake cylinder or caliper just breaks off and its due to corrosion. Why are you replacing just the one line?

Brake lines are very doable, it's like a jig saw puzzle, they are fixed like that. Flushing isnt terribly hard, but you might need a dealer flash. Even though it is very doable, it probably isnt that expensive either if a reputable place. If it is expensive, ask for a break down, I bet the worse charge is the line eventhough it shouldnt be. They might ask you to replace them all, or if you want to replace them all, which also shouldn't cost that much. I guess with a 15 you should only replace what is needed, the whole thing would not be unnecessary but you are in a salt state so maybe? Someone just told me they had to do a brake line and it was 600 for parts, imo this is way over charge. I don't think it would even cost 600 for everything, line, flush, and labor. But who knows these days, something real bad happened out there in the land we call the usa and the cost of everything.

Cutting and flaring a line isn't hard, a lot of auto parts stores will loan the flaring tool. You can buy a short length of brake line to practice with before on before doing it on the truck, just remember to put the flare nut on before making the flare.
Look up how to make a double flare.

Personally…….. do all (4), and I’d upgrade to steel braided while I’m at it :waytogo:

Ran into same issue after purchasing part from O’Reilly’s and realizing I had no way of connecting the part to the existing brake line without cutting and flaring the line. I ended up ordering the entire new brake line which included the rubber piece that connects to the caliper - factory connected, on eBay for about $60 or so. Part # 68211364AB.
