Well I jumped into the unknow with this one just like all the rest of my endeavors. Read and watched as much as I could before I decided to buy everything. Purchased 8 bottles of liner, 8 cans of hardener and 8 bottles on GM White/Glacier White/ Its been called everything, sanding materials, taping materials, and an adjustable spray gun from UPOL ( Raptor Liner Maker). When you buy the kit they include a spray gun but it will only spray one pattern and that is like popcorn stuff on the celling. I wanted a finer texture so I got their adjustable gun. I removed the bed one because i am changing colors of the entire truck and two because I could use the back of the cab and the front of the bed as a testing area for my desired spray pattern. I removed the hood and the tailgate as well because that sucker is so dang high. The roof will be sprayed from the roof of my garage as my wife carefully drives it out from under the shop. I will include pictures and info as I go. Wish me luck because I need it. Paint and body is NOT my thing.
The two bottom pictures are the sanded pics not the painted liner pics.

How long did it take you to get the bed off? I've watched videos, perfect world looks like a couple hours, but that is never how it goes for me. How high does the bed have to be raised before you can drive out from under it?

Undo the three screws inside the gas cap area. take the screws out of the taillights (4) two in each, remove the taillights and unplug, undo the six bed bolts, and take it off, its that easy. I have a badlands 2500 atv winch (remote control) bolted in my garage on my truss. I used two ratchet straps crisscrossed on the factory tie downs and lifted her straight up. Maybe an hour by myself max.

on the drivers side the gas hose may touch the fender support, a 10mm socket will fix that quick !!

but if you have a couple of friends to lift it, it only needs to come up a few inches, I was by myself this day.

I am shooting at 60 psi and two to three layers. This stuff is very forgiving you can lay it right back over where you just painted with no issues especially if you are shooting it at a finer mist like I am. I got some overspray on my windows that dried and I was thinking the worse. But a flat razor in a scraper took it right off. I removed the inner fender wells last night and shot them with some black paint after a quick scuff. If all goes as planned I should start re-assembly tomorrow. I will upload some more pics then.

Tell me about the paint on your front bumper.

That sure looks good. I'm really interested to see how it cleans up after it gets several weeks of dirt on it.

Nice ..when I sprayed my bed, bumpers, grille and fender flares I sprayed it at 45 I think, I wanted a more rough texture ... On my bed I did spray at the beginning around 75 but it was to fine ... so I lowered it and I liked the 45 ...

Man that looks good. I completely disassembled my front bumper, scuffed it with a red scotch pad and shot it last night with some self etching primer. I will line it this evening, definitely going to dial back to 45.

yes I did I just got the hood and grill back on it last night. I will take some pics this evening when I get home. First I have got to clean up my back yard. It looks like a bomb went off. I have blue painters tape wadded up everywhere, tables, sawhorses, you name it. I did learn a lot though. I will do a narrative tomorrow morning on what I did, what I bought, what I would change and what i learned.

Lessons learned, (1) I have major respect for paint and body technicians. When they say prep is 99% of painting, yea they know what they are talking about. (2) If this is your first time doing this and you are a rookie like me, use the gun supplied in your kit. Leave the fine spraying to the professionals. (3) If you believe that you have everything taped off, you don't. Check and double check your tape lines. It will tell on you. (4) I cannot express this enough, take your time !! Slow down, you are not in a hurry. (5) Don't go crazy with the sanding. Just knock off the clear and shiny, wipe it down with a tack cloth and paint. I did use some self etching primer, but honestly it was a waste of money. This stuff lays and tacks well. You have to go out of your way to make it run. I got my stuff from TCPGLOBAL paint supply. Their kit comes with the liner, tint, hardener and the gun. Its an easy process, everything is pour, shake and spray. Its not like all the other videos out there where guys are measuring this and measuring that, Its pre measured. You take the top off of the liner pour in one can of hardener, one bottle of tint shake like hell screw on the gun and spray. I used Raptor liner in the rattle can for the front bumper and grill. When you use this method and it dries it will leave a fine powder that will get all over you . As soon as it dries hit it with the water hose and it will wash off. You can actually see it in the water when it hits the ground.

Any way here she is. The windows have not been cleaned yet and I have not washed it, just hosed the dust off.

I did respray the front bumper after this photo, and the three holes in the grill had the amber lights in them and I removed them. I have frost white lights to replace them and will do so this weekend. I just don't like the amber color in the grill.
