Guys I'm needing some help! I was rolling down interstate at 70ish in Cruise Control, my RPMs rev'd up all the way 2× back to back on it's own so I pulled over and put in park and got under the hood, had a buddy rev it a few times and the very first time I heard a pop sound that wasnt extremely loud but loud enough I heard it over the engine, but sounded normal on next 3/4 revs, well got back in and dropped into drive and NOTHING! It just Revs the engine up, went thru all gears and all the same. Had it towed home, changed Imput AND Output Shaft Sensors, dropped the pan and changed both the Transmission Cooler Return Filter (canister) and the actual Transmission Filter (flat filter) and put the 5.5 quarts of ATF+4 tranny fluid in it and still won't engage into any gear. Wen I shift thru each gear I can hear my engine rev a little like it's going into gear but won't move wen apply gas... Any Opinions on what the issue is and/or what steps should I take next as far as troubleshooting goes?? Don't really have the cash to pay a shop to come get it, inspect it, repair it, etc so I have to get it running myself... ANY KNOWLEDGEABLE ADVICE IS NEEDED ANS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Can already tell that you have an automatic, but is your vehicle a 4x4? If it is, did you check the 4x4 selector area and make sure that the Neutral selector button in the middle didn't somehow get turned on? Not sure if your year Ram would have one of these or not. The newer ones do.

You might also have someone lie down next (not in front or behind) to your truck where they can see the driveshaft/transmission U-joint, and look at the drive shaft from the transmission and back, or transfer case and forward and back, and switch it into gear with your foot on the brake, to see if the drive shaft/s is/are even trying to move or not. Do this carefully, and see if it makes it move when dropping it into reverse, and then into neutral, and then drive. If it will go into reverse, and move the truck that way, but not any forward gears, then GTYankee is right, it is likely a valve body or other problem inside the tranny.

Sounds like you disconnectEd the trans from the engine. Look and see if torque converter bolts are still attached.

Thanks I will definitely give the U- Joint and Torque Converter Bolts a look tomorrow morning. I had a different thought on what my core issue is and it seems like it may be a lack of pressure. Any chance my Governor Pressure Solenoid going bad causing these problems oorrrr am I way off?? Lol

If all else fails people part these trucks out all over good used tranny shouldn't be to much Not to difficult to install either if you are mechanically inclined.

Torque converter would be my guess. How black was the oil‽ and how much gunk around the magnet in the bottom of the pan?

Wow because most builders will not upgrade the output shaft to billet until 1000hp some at 750hp 4x4 have a very hardy output shafts and if your breaking them you should update your sun gears to all steel and without saying torque converter and torque plate. And I am very surprised that your input shaft has survived as it is weaker than a 4x4 output shaft. Other than the torque converter the parts to make it survive 1000hp is about $600 considering it is about $6000 to buy it build this way and the torque converter is around $1000. I am about 1260fpt at the wheels (diesel 4x4) and have to let up in some instances because it feels like the transmission and engine mounts are going to rip loose and the truck is twising on the frame.

When this happens to us, which is often, we simply open and close the driver's door and then it will allow us to drive or reverse instead of just revving the engine. Took us years to find that out. Works every time. Seems crazy I know but give it a try.
