Has anyone tried replacing CV axles and as you hammer it out, it seems like the intermediate shaft is coming with it? Is that normal/common? My fear is if I keep going, I end up pulling shaft out and out pours all my fluid and would need new seal from somewhere.

Anyone have tips for removal? Seems to want to move but in the wrong spot?

Thanks.

Yup they pull out as they will seizes together. When you do CV axle replacements you typically always need new intermediate shafts. and its only 30$ anyways so I always change them.

Thanks! Do you know if removing the intermediate shaft will cause fluid to leak out, or is there some kind of internal seal?

You might get a trickle out but shouldn't be too much. Fill level is below axle level technically.

When you install the new CVs put grease or antiseize on the spines on the both sides. It helps keep moisture out and removal next time
