Purchased 2016 RAM 4X4 5.7 HEMI from auction. It was listed as a Start & Drive, not the case. Motor had been ran hot and a ton of oil blow by. I'm pretty sure the RAD had a leak that the previous owner tried to repair using some type of epoxy. Nice truck and I've already got another motor from a 2019. When I have the time I will pull the original motor down to see just what happened. I have a 2000 Dakota 4x4 Ext Cab w/ 3.9 256K miles on it. I'm thinking about rebuilding the 5.7 with some machine work. Should be fun. I'm wanting to replace the torque converter in the 16. It has the 8sp trans. Having a hard time locating one. Ordered a new solid aluminum RAD w/extra capacity, tstat, tuner, tires, oil catch. If anyone could point me in the direction to a quality torque converter I would really appreciate it. The Ford 6.0 build was fun and I enjoy it, however, I'm starting to like this RAM, except for the starter location, that's BS.

Welcome fellow Floridian. Truck looks like a good project. Is there a problem finding converter due to supply chain or are you just looking for something beefier than OEM?

Funny that you mentioned it because I noticed an unused cavity on the block and I can only imagine. Fortunately, for me Florida doesn't really reach or sustain temperatures long enough to warrant a block heater. The other thing I noticed, can't remove A/C compressor without lifting the engine. It hit's the steering column. Didn't want to try my luck removing the studs. I was able to get the old motor out without breaking anything. I had a new torque converter and if it would've been the right one I would be putting it all back together, however, the one I received was totally different. I really wanted to see just how the HEMI does with tuning. It should be a little peppy I hope, not to mention I'm trying to beat the weather that is headed our way.

1979PowerWagon 360, originally I was just gonna go back with stock. Local dealership quoted 1.2K and didn't have any available. The part houses didn't have any and the one that did gave me one that is totally different. So, now I'm thinking I should go for a performance enhancement mod. I found an older thread about a performance brand, "Green" something or another. I'm gonna dig a little deeper on the topic. Had a local trans shop that would send it off to be rebuilt, not sure how I feel about that honestly.
