To cold and snowy up here to play with big toys,so have to substitute big toy cars for little toy cars. A few pics of my routed continous rail track, and some of the wiring underneath it.All computor controlled and timed. The record stands at 1.9 sec's to make the 63 ft track length.

We used to have a hobby shop that had a slot car track - forget the scale but the cars are 4-5" long.
We would get him to crank the voltage up to about 20 volts (if memory serves me well) and let them rip. Mine would pull the front end off the ground and jump out of the slot haha.
Few of the stock motor cars would eventually go up in smoke and a small flame if run too long at the higher voltage.

They went out of business decades ago, but I still have the cars and parts here somewhere.

We had a place in the late 60s that had 5 giant multi lane tracks for 1:24 scale cars, they had high banks, tunnels & long straightaways.
Silicone tires, rewound motors, aluminum gears...we always modded our cars.
I had a yellow Chapparall that hugged that slot on every curve.

There used to be a few of us old street/drag racers that would get together on friday nights in the winters and run cars ,but in the last couple years,we've sort of split up. It was getting a bit stupid pricewise with 1/64th cars costing well over $200.00 each, and controllers costing upwards of $500.00,and i think that was one of the reasons it tapered off. These days i have a couple neighbour kids that come over and use my track more then i do,only requirement being they turn the lights off and lock the door when they leave.I still stock enough parts to keep them going, but i've cut way back on my parts stock .

Cold and snowy? Sept 26th or whatever day we're close to really? That is a long cold winter, I'll try and do less whining around here.

1.9 secs is straight zip'n around that track, please tell me that's your record and not the neighborhood 10yr old. Lol

That us a very cool game area! Nice build across the board, relay circuits can get very busy very quick. Yours look very nice. I'm just gonna guess but I'm thinking there's been a beer or two consumed at that track, maybe even the day the 2.0s mark was shattered with a 1.9, unless of course a 10yr old holds the record.

Pretty cool you let the neighborhood kids play.

It's not cold and snowy quite yet this year, lol. We have been known to have a good sized snowfall by now though. I do hold the record, but the kids are pretty good, they're alot younger with better reflexes, lol. It's fully set-up with computor timing thats good to the 1,000th,and the computor turns the track on/off ,the track is fully wired with brakes and reversing switches,so you can change it up and run it both directions. Each lane has it's own 10 amp power supply,so there's no cross over power surges when another lane crashes. I have close to a 1,000 hours into building it,it's a fully routed track, with continous rail,on each section,as it breaks down into 2 6ft sections and one 4.5 ft section. This is a pic of the snow we had in Sept 2019,that was one of the worst Sept snowfalls we'd had since they've been keeping weather records, but it's not uncommon for us to need the snow shovels by now,lol

If I had room for that
There's some huge 1/24th tracks kicking around, but you need a pile of room to run them. There's one in Japan that's mind blowing with it's size. The hard core 1/24th guys spend huge money on the cars.
that big of a track it would not be waisted 24/7 with that track I would set track system up on cable system from roof and with push of a button it goes up out of the way till wanted again that way the space is still usable but who am I kidding I do not see myself getting that kind of space anytime soon. LOL

You yankee boys have some strange hobbies...I guess that's how it works when you're forced inside. my idea of high technology slot cars was this stuff..in the 70's...Gave away my age... View attachment 503113
We had one like this for the longest time until we found out a neighbor had a custom one that blew my mind ... similar to the one @Wild one has but went around his whole pool room along the sides of the room. It had a bridge, 3 jumps and climb from one of the corners to the other ....

Now I want one lol ... thanks @Wild one

I used to belong to a club.. most cars raced are 1/32 scale..and they are broken down into 2 groups..the parma crowd..only routed tracks and cars that really dont look like anything and the scaletric etc crowd.. plastic or routed tracks and extremely detailed cars .. with the plastic tracks, you can play with magnets whereas routed tracks, weights are key..

Lots of fun..and work plus can be spendy. There was 8 of us with 6 large 4 lane tracks that raced every second week..i think we had 5 or 6 classes like open wheeled, rally..we even had bikes for a short go but they were slow..

Glad to hear this is still a thing..

You brought back memories from the 60's that I haven't thought about since...well the 60's. There was a place in some mall in San Antonio that had a great track and I would stand and watch for as long as my parents would let me. I never got to try it but you reminded me of it. Not sure if I should thank you or not.:(
