i had this happen in a brand new 2021 rebel. the dealer refused to replace the battery saying it was not covered under warranty. i bought and installed an energizer agm battery from batteries plus. Had it happen again. Then i learned that the plugs in the ram stay hot even with ignition off. This is so you can charge phones etc with truck off. started unplugging stuff and the problem went away.

Something is not right with your charging system.
What does the voltmeter read while driving?
I have 75K miles in 5 years, 2 months of operation-still on original battery.

I don't buy OEM batteries. I just get Walmart batteries and they last 3 to 4 years in this desert heat.
But sounds like something wrong going on there.

They're made by Clarios (same as Interstate). I was at Walmart today and double-checked. It says right on the top of the battery label. Same company that makes Interstate. The question is weather they are made to the same standard ...something we might not know w/o some insider plant knowledge. But weight would be a good indicator if they weight the same.

The interstate battery I bought at the Interstate store, I was surprised how reasonably priced they were. Cheaper than the parts stores, and right there with our local Farm & Barn ...which is usually the best deal going (comparing to their premium grade FLA batt). The Farm & Barn's however are made by East Penn (different mfgr).

I put a Walmart Battery in my Ram too

My thoughts are how many times a week do you drive the Truck? How far do you drive each time is it just into Town say 5 miles, Is the Truck parked insider a garage and how cold is it. Understand your stock std, however do you have a UHF/CB Radio or any non-std accessories added? I'd install a current draw monitor or a battery monitor (Matson Bluetooth) unit. I have one on my Adventure Bike you can see Charging Rate and history, Trips made, Battery charge state and Cranking Amps. Cost $60 oz dollars so about $30 USD.

During Covid lock downs I had to be jump started, so I trickle charged the Truck every week, When I don't do long runs just Town, I trickle charge monthly. I am in Oz so it's like 37° to 64° in winter and 64° to 104° in summer and my Truck is outside all the time.

My RAM is a 2500 built in Jan 2018 and still has original batteries, I have needed Jump starting three times and our AAA has said that the Batteries were just low. Too many short runs.

Hope this helps you and check for the Camper fridge might be drawing current when you're parked and will flatten your battery also.

Dealer replacing alternator under Mopar Certified Maximum Care warranty; will prolly have to pay some $$ for replacement OEM battery (prorated 24 month warranty with 12 to 18 months gone by).

Any suggestions for code readers? Retired Macintosh computer repair tech - got the Certified Preowned truck and Certified Maximum Care to keep my lazy @ss out from under the hood or dash, but would like a gizmo that tells me what's what BEFORE having to go to the dealer. (BTW my local dealer has been outstanding... plus only five blocks from my house!)
Highly recommended:

If you want bluetooth OBD & TPMS full function get the MP808TS, MK808TS or TS608

That's what I broke down and bought. Gave it to my son. He does all the diagnostics for everyone.

Replaced my battery in my 14RT today. Went out to start this am. No joy. Battery would not even take a charge.

Orileys replacement with 3 year warranty. Truck fired right up.

Never expected this. Happened overnight

Bought our 2018 RAM 1500 Crew Cab AWD Big Horn as a Certified Preowned in August 2020 from Baxter in Omaha NE (bigtime dealer). OEM battery replaced under remaining 36 mo. warranty by small town RAM dealer.

Fast forward to 2021 and retirement in southern Colorado, several trips from Nebraska to CO towing UHauls and a small travel trailer. Replacement OEM battery crapped out, replaced under warranty (despite above small town RAM dealer NOT putting dates on second battery).

Fast forward to 2022 and #2 OEM replacement battery crapping out. "Service Battery" warning on dash followed by red battery icon. Appointment made with local RAM dealer (who's been outstanding BTW); we bought FCA Certified Maximum Care warranty because of the complexity of this vehicle's systems. Full disclosure - I was a ACMT for several decades (Apple Certified Macintosh Technician), happy to work on Mac laptops, iMacs etc. but I leave auto computers to the pros.

ANYWAY: we will get our THIRD OEM battery replaced under warranty, but asking the RAM Forum hive mind... what should we replace THAT battery with when it inevitably conks out?

Truck is stone stock and will likely remain that way. We tow a 2,800 lb. travel trailer a few times a year - truck has factory trailer brake controller - and will probably tow a rented flatbed full of tree limbs and the like to the local landfill a few times.

Just want a battery that will last longer than 12 to 18 months and that works well with Uconnect etc., towing trailers and all that.

Thanks in advance!
Probably to late to find out, BUT all batteries have a manufacture date on them. The purpose is that if they sit on the "shelve" to long the battery 'REP" is supposed to take them out and put in "fresh" ones. each manufacture has their rules on what the shelf life is. The service location selling the battery is supposed to use oldest dated ones first. Etc. Etc. maybe they had been on shelf to long? Very seldom does a battery fail that soon. Everyone has there favorite brand. I have a yellow top Optima AGM in my 66 Satellite. Bought the car in 2006 it was in it then, and still is!!!!! Doesn't mean they all last this long BUT mine has!
