Sorry if this is the wrong area of the forum but i just have to get this off my chest.

I know and understand tuning, been there dont that, the only difference here is the engine and tune/tuning/methodology vs my other vehicle. So my questions are not one of ignorance it is more, how do you handle things.
Can this be done or that.

So i started researching and all arrows pointed to DiabloTuning, ok great.
Well what about custom tuning, ok, Jay or HemiFever, so i went with Hemi Fever.

OK so i had some presale questions and used the web form - no replies.
A week or so later, i dont know when it was honestly, i emailed again.
And here comes the issue.

Sean, doesnt answer questions, my main one was, with Diablo you have to preship yours to them to unlock, with HemiFever everything pointed to, but never openly, definitively said you get an ECU first (and never anywhere does anything say it comes from Holley) instead says things that really have no bearing on what i sent through.
My Next Main point below is do you do live tuning via RDP/TeamViewer.
My final point was can you provide instructions on how to setup the logging in the Trinity, there is nothing anywhere that they provide that shows how to do that. And the PID's have to be specific or it wont get him what he needs.

So a couple of emails with Sean and it's all the same B.S. never once answering my question, instead skirting the very direct procedure as the answer or yes/no he doesn't even say "i don't know"
Then again last night i emailed i got the tuner, etc, here is the email to him and his reply.

My question here is, is this the crap that i am now going to deal with from that company?
Never direct answers, not answering at all, or minimally skirting the answer and giving something that doesn't really answer the question.

My Email after receiving the Trinity 2 EX Tuner

Sean

Turner was received today, thank you!
It was updated and checked again, I think 3 times, and ECU Swap form filled out/submitted/paid for.

For your tuning purposes when I get the ECU would you rather tune off a stock ECU to get normal ECU values?
Or would you rather I load something like the Diablo Performance Tune and log from there.
I am sure you have the values you want to make them be, just not sure logging or tuning wise where you would want to be, as most tuners would start from scratch.
it already ha
Do you ever do any live tuning, i am fully setup to remote people into my laptop or surface pro tethered to my phone, while driving so they can live tune, i have a TacTrix Openport2 cable, just no software if that was something you did vs sending files back and forth, just to get a look at real-time telemetry.

Also do you have instructions on how to handle the logging in the Trinity 2, what to log and not log? I can't find anything regarding this.
I still can't find anything for what the fee is from Holly if I wanted to keep my stock ECU, you don't know what it is, do you ?

Seans Reply -
Finish the instructions we sent, then you'll get the next set. There will be a return label in the box when the unlocked ecu comes. You'll put your ecu back in and send it back.

My Reply Back (even though i CLEARLY stated that i had filled out the form for the ECU and paid for the $1 to have it shipped)

Sean
That is the plan but not what I asked.
I have no intent in trying to load or do anything with the stock ECU.

Your research wasn't great,as very few tuners still tune with Diablo, most are tuning with HP these days.I'd sell or return the Diablo and spring for the HP program,at least then you'll have the ability to adjust the tune parameters yourself

Not too interested in self tuning, as i am not schooled nor have anyone to teach me, but it is an interesting thought...
If more are using HP then there needs to be alot more vocalization of it as i only saw a few things about it, but thanks for the heads up Wild One i will def start looking.

All my research was on Ram Hemi tuning and literally everything but a few things all came back to diablo and then either Sean or Jay
I am not tracking or dragging the truck, its my daily driver as is my other car, but i do want a good solid tune.

The diablos i have seen people complaining about lockups, and the having to stop to load the tune was always a p.i.t.a. but once i set the performance tune i have no use for anything else (maybe towing one day i dont know)

HP seems to be way more mechanic and tuner oriented.
I can turn a wrench but i tuner using a software like that i am not. not without files to load into it from those that have tuned and proven it works.

the opportunity to adjust parameters would only entice me if i knew what they were and how to adjust them.
My intent was never to only use diablo once i knew the two guys mentioned existed to take diablo further, maybe my money is better spent on the other guy.

the plus was taking logs from the vehicle and having them tune and retune from there.
my last one wasnt, though worked for many, worked for me but had odd frustrating querks. (nothing that through codes or anything just ya know, it wasnt right)

I tried Hemifever a while ago and just gave, don't how they stay in business. Went with HP, did some tuning myself and all kinds of help from the HP forum.
Now my Ram 3500 6.4 runs great.

There's more tuners out there than just those two anyway lol. I assume flyin Ryan is still around and I know there's others. It's like going to the big box store instead of a small local shop. If you want personal service don't go where hundreds of people go.
Another great option is a local dyno tuner. Maybe more pricey but that's one guy working with your specific truck to your specific needs. Plus it's way cool

Wish I went with HP tuners a few years ago, went with Sean and got similar replies. Difference is he actually did a great job tuning my truck and I didn’t have to worry about swapping PCMs. Sean got things dialled in and I haven’t changed nothing since. I’d still go with HP moving forward with any other vehicle though, I must’ve caught Sean when he was actually not as busy or maybe putting more time into each customer.

I went with him for mine. Ordered it last Sunday night. Monday morning I had a 0700 email from him asking for certain information. I provided it and within hours had the 93 tune and ZF tune. Loaded it and Data logged for him and he gave me the thumbs up from that data. Couldn’t have been easier.
He was very responsive via email, answered my questions, but I had already purchased his services. I asked him to delete the AGS and he did no problem. He gave me exactly what I wanted much faster than I had anticipated. The tune is great and I would wholeheartedly recommend Hemifever for applications like mine.
I fully understand that the HP platform is superior with way more user upside. The i3 accomplished exactly what I needed it to do.

I don't have any direct experience with either them.

But few people I off-road with have. They had around same experience. As I told them. You are 'generally' dealing people who have done 100's of tunes.
They are busy, and likely not best 'social' skills. So just do what they ask, and don't ask so many 'dumb' questions.

Afterwards, both of them were very happy with tunes they got.

I dislike diablo. But it has it's place. Many people just want tune for higher octane, or towing, or many just little more HP. Don't want learn tuning.
Pay someone to give you a tune, if want it changed, pay them again. It's simple and usually works.

HP, cost more. But let's you do improvements or tune it yourself. example. you could get someone to do the tune for you. You can see what they did
and adjust it if you wanted.

Just my view, but HP has horrible support. If you think Hemifever is bad, try HP support. You'll think HF has best customer support ever.

I've spent over the years with HP, around 30-40K. I asked them when are you coming out with support for 5th Gen Hemi.... reply back. "refresh the website"
I have their direct phone number. Called it and asked again. "Go to website and keep refreshing until you see supported vehicle, click"
I created a bot, which refreshed their website every day, only took 1year.

As some else mentioned above. If you want your "hand" to be held, go to local shop that tunes and a dyno. where I live there are two very good shops, I've dealt with.
Both support HP only. Neither like rams though :)

I'll add to the dissatisfaction of HemiFever Tuning. I'll be going with HPtuners for mine after this is all said and done.

I bought a used unlocked ECU and Diablo T2 from a member here. (I forget who, doesn't matter not anything they did wrong)
I sent the ECU to diablo for vin correction. Already bought a trans and engine tune from HF.
Installed the ECU and T2. Followed HF instructions, during which my T2 would show an error while reading/saving the PCM file. The TCM file saved perfectly fine. I contacted HF for some possible troubleshooting. A few weeks had past and he advised me to contact Diablo. So I sent an email to Diablo and after some back and forth between Diablo and HemiFever I haven't got any resolution. I finally had enough and repeated my request to HF for a refund on my tune that I never received. I got "I can't process a return on an order that's a year old" So I sent him back the same email from the first request of a refund. Explaining that I work 84 hours a week and not going to sit on hold for hours at a time to "maybe get a solution". Now I'm out the cost of a PCM and TCM tune and a "oh well" from HF.

HP dosent need support. Every answer is on their forum. Or Some guy on Youtube has a step-by step of what to do.

Or just buy HPs Tuning books and read them.
