Long story short, ran over a tree that fell in front of me, and my 3.92 front Diff/Carrier mounting bracket broke as in the picture below.. I "think" it can be welded easily enough, but in case it can't my question is, are all the Diff/Carrier housing the same size? The 3.92's are very expensive.. 3.21 and 3.55 can be had super cheap and was just going to swap in my internals if it could be done easily enough. If I can get this welded where I know it won't break I will go that route, but this is my backup plan. Thanks

Just do the gen 3 front diff swap at this point. No need to put a POS Gen 4 back in.

Oh... never looked into that mod, didn't know it was a thing. Will have to do some searching on this as 3rd gen Diff/Carrier are pretty cheap it seems.

Yea, may wait on doing that mod.. Quite a bit of sourcing and downtime to go from New to Old after reading.. need my rig back sooner than later.

To snap that bracket you must of been going a good clip and or hit it just right for it to snap like that

You can run with-out the front diff / axles and driveshaft till you hunt up another 3.92 front diff. Just unbolt the actuator off the pass side of the diff and leave it plugged in,and you won't have any check engine lights. My 4X4 hasn't had any of the front 4X4 pieces for 7 years now,my trucks a dragstrip toy/pavement princess,so it doesn't need to be a 4X4,and everything fell out of it,basically when the truck was new,and is sitting in my storage shed

Was doing 45 on a State Rd... night time, tree was down(good size tree at that), didn't see it and whap.... Did not blow air bags, did not bend frame, just the inner fender closure was bent as seen in picture. Broke lower control arm, tie-rod end bent, CV axle separated, front diff bracket and actuator was the main things besides the obvious body issues. This happened in Feb of this year but just got it all back together minus the Diff bracket that broke.

I drove around for 6 months without a front diff while I sourced everything I needed.

That reminds me, I should re-do my DIY thread on it. It got nuked because someone couldn't **** and kept posting bullsh!t on it.

But here is the other thread on it https://www.ramforum.com/threads/regearing-3-92-to-4-56-2014-ram1500-4wd.92619/
Was just talking to my friend about this.. Told him I did not think it would hurt anything driving around without the front Diff parts while I source the pieces for the swap. Thanks for the info and reassurance that I can in fact remove it and use it.

Damn that must of been an eye opener. Surprised it didn't trigger the airbag,as you're not far off the front bag sensor by the looks of the hit.

I thought my Ram 1500 is front drive in 2WD mode, but it was wrong, it drive the rear wheels when in 2WD, so most situation I don't need the front differential
