Have a 2018 Ram 2500 for about a year and attempting to change fuel filters myself. Front wasn't a problem but can not get the rear off. I've tried everything from chain wreck to a screw drive and a comealong. Broke the screw driver before it popped loose. Any ideas on tools to use and tips to get it off?20220929_183501.jpg

Have you tried spraying some penetrating oil in the top of it and let it soak in for a few minutes?

If the filter housing is that hard to remove, cut your loses and replace the whole thing. Good possibly it may not seal up with a new filter assembly.

Couldn't get under the truck yesterday cause of the storm but I plan to drop the drive axle to have better access. If I can't get it off them, I'm taking off the whole assembly. This is ridiculous, I have all kinds of equipment and the newest truck I have is the hardest. 10 min job taking 2 days.

Get a web strap wrench that goes on a 1/2” ratchet and use an extension long enough to reach from under the drive shaft. That’s what I used on mine.

PS; make sure you are turning in the right direction.

I just did mine yesterday. I use a metal oil filter strap wrench. Bring the new Mopar filter to the store and match up a good fit. I use the driveshaft against my arms for leverage. The last guy obviously overtightened it. They don't have to be that tight and I never had one leak. You'll get it.

Mine was stuck badly I used a pipe wrench and bar from jack for leverage worked like a charm
