I am currently running Mobil 1 0w-40 European formula, Redline 0w-30, Redline 20wt. racing oil.
5 qts Mobil, 1 gal. Redline, 1 qt racing all mixed together and then dump in about 7 qts and save the rest for next summer.
This is this years tow mixture and will be changed after 1.5 weeks of use. Should be some decent amount of ZZDP and moly in the mix.

Then winter oil will get put in which is usually Pennzoil 5w-20, Redline 0w-30, Redline 20wt. racing oil.

^^This. I'd say either he's lying or doesn't know any better. Either way, I wouldn't want him working on my rig.
Are you kidding me?? I don’t lie, I do know, and was ASE certified before I retired. We’re you???

Lol. Since the truck isn't driven much - other than for specific trips - I have to do something to control costs.

One use is in the dead of winter, sure thicker oil would work but when traveling 3000 or so miles every mpg counts! Esp. as I have seen as low as 12 mpg going across the midwest with winds.
Other is towing the boat for 3000+ miles at high speed, so I prefer a bit more viscosity there. I have used the 5w-20 for that but when I shut the truck off you can hear the thin oil drain back. So as it now has 50k miles on it, I wanted a bit thicker oil for the towing.

I guess I could go on one oil change per year, but I prefer to change it at the 4-5k miles mark vs. 10k. So winter and summer oils it is .

I can't run 5w-30, well I can but I get a weird start up buck and it's a bit thick for the norther climates in the winter.
0w-30 would probably work, but to run pure Redline and drain it at 3-5k miles just flat out hurts lol.

And I love pouring that 1 quart of pure racing oil in with it's high ZDDP and moly :)

Especially with the lifetime service contract, this truck has to last another decade or so - or until forced to use another source of energy.

Same strategy here. I'm glad some are able to afford new regularly, but not us.
And teletransport isn't quite ready yet.

He was referencing the oil jocky in the original post and agreeing with you. At least that’s how I read it.
Thanks, that's exactly what I was saying. Thanks for pointing that out to @zogg.

Are you kidding me?? I don’t lie, I do know, and was ASE certified before I retired. We’re you???
Hahaha, I guess you misunderstood my point. Like @IDSandman said, I was actually agreeing with you and calling the oil change artist a liar or he just doesn't know anything. That's why I not only quoted you, but specifically added "^^This" to my post, which means I'm in agreement with what I quoted. My apologies if it was taken wrong.

The 5.7 takes a hair over 7 quarts. With my extended life filter and filter relocation kit I can get almost 8 qts in. But no. Mixing oil won’t blow the engine up. If it did there would be millions of cars blowing up from people doing oil changes and not getting every last drop of the old oil out.
Where did you get your oil relocation kit from? I just got a new-to-me Ram, and can't believe that they put the oil filter there, and were like, "Yup! Looks good!". So annoying.

In an emergency you can add a different oil/type won't hurt a thing.

Could you by chance post a couple of photos of your filter relocation kit. I am installing an oil cooler and have thought about a filter relocation as well. Thankyou

The Mechanic most likely was protecting the company by refusing to do it in case there was a problem down the road as a smart attorney could win in court due to how people view mechanic shops. Also my father in law who was a engineer in gears and lubrication at NASA has always said not to mix oils unless it's a emergency because different companies use different additives that can possibly turn corrosive when mixed and if you do mix oils you should do a oil change as soon as possible.

There are a few threads on it if you do a search on the forum.

Saw a post on using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum along with Lube Guard Bio Tech Engine Protection... I pretty sure the last oil change was a synthetic blend. I was thinking of going with the Pennzoil Ultra 5w-20 along with the Lube Guard... Any suggestions?

It's been a number of years ago, but Consumer Reports did some huge comprehensive tests on all kinds of oils in taxis in New York. They started out with new engines, did 3000, 5000, 7500 and 10,000 mile oil changes on the taxis - each with given brand of oil. (e.g. Pennzoil, Havoline, Valvoline, Trop-Arctic, etc.) The engines were torn down after 100K miles and wear measured. Other than only the cheapest non-synthetic oil (National brand) showing excessive wear when used at 10,000 mile intervals, there was no appreciable difference in wear and tear between the different brands and oil change intervals. (Obviously they weren't mixing viscosities and so on.) Their bottom line: Most brands are excellent, and changing oil at mileage intervals of <5000 miles is for the most part a waste of oil. (Extreme conditions - dusty, hot, etc. notwithstanding.) I'm running 5w30 (rather than the recommended 5w20) Mobile 1 with their companion Mobile 1 synthetic oil filter in my 2019 RAM Classic, 5.7L Hemi. I've only got 39k on it, but it's never used a drop; lifters don't tick. Wife has a 2012 Jeep Compass we bought brand new, 137k miles on it and I run (non-synthetic) 5w20 in that in the winter here in Michigan, 5w30 in the summer. Never goes out behind the garage and sips a quart either. Both get oil changes at 10,000 and 5000 miles respectively. Had a 1999 Voyager we put 249,000 miles on before getting the Jeep and I put 10w30 in that year-round every 5000 miles. No issues with that either. (Oh - and while I didn't co-mingle brands with the Voyager, after it hit like 175,000 miles, I put whatever 10w30 oil I could get at a good price in it - including whatever they sell at Wal-Mart, Auto-Zone, Parts-Plus, etc.)
