I'm looking for advice on replacing my oil pan gasket on my 2005 ram 1500. I don't know exactly what I have to do to drop the pan. Looking at YouTube, there's a few videos of trucks with a solid front axle. Mine doesn't have that. Has anyone done this who is willing to provide some guidance? Thanks so much

4X4 has the front axle you have to drop to get the pan to clear the pickup tube. If youre a 4X2, your lucky and good to go. I installed a felpro gasket. Windage tray is built in.

I found that out the hard way. Had the front up on ramps and the pan was already down on the axle. Was scared to start it, so I popped it in neutral and pushed it down by myself. Almost hit the closed overhead door in the Thermo King shop I work at. Thankfully, I got it done. @ 216,000 miles, I was scared to see the bottom of the pan. Luckily, residual oil and some carbon chips were all I found. I did get the felpro gasket kit as well, no leaks so far!

I have a 3” body lift and the front cranked up to 2”S, will this still give me issues now f I go ahead and try and drop the pan and change the gasket? Yeah I have the same truck, 2005 1500 4x4.

I watched that same video and another one, which was an hour long. It was pretty good. I don't know much about dealing with lift kits, I would assume that the execution would be the same. Hopefully it doesn't have any unpleasant surprises for you
