Hey folks.
In unfamiliar territory here! I've been over on the GM forums my whole life!
I've got the ball rolling on a 2022 Ram Sport.
Previously had GMs but I see they still have exploding engines and bad torque converters(my 2015 engine lasted 140k km until the lifters and subsequently half my engine piled up, transmission lasted 161k km)
So I decided to test drive a Ram and fell in love. I'm just trying to decide between 6'4 and 5'7 bed mostly at this point.
I haul stuff for work, it's heavy 6 foot boxes, and very heavy tubulars(oilfield stuff). I don't do this often or anything, but I do have to do it on occasion. In my short box GM I have to put them diagonally and Tetris it all in there. These Rams have even shorter beds. The 6'4 would be no problem.
I also mountain bike, fish with a kayak, hunt and explore in the mountains. Im in British Columbia, Canada.
Does anyone else have a 6'4 bed and drive really rough and narrow mountain logging roads? How does the length affect the maneuvering if you do? How is it offroad with a modest lift? My trucks aren't pavement princesses, I use 'em like trucks. I may go as much as a 4" BDS lift, but usually just go with a 2.5 level and 33's.
I rarely go to the city so not too worried about maneuvering around and parking. It's more the backcountry I'm wondering about with the longer truck.
Another question, how common is the hemi tick? Lifters are a big problem with GM and it sounds like Ram has this issue too?
