Do not buy coooper tires this is the second time I have been burnt by this brand in 3 months. First my 2011 jeeps cooper tires with 80% tread 1.5 yrs old went out of round on the inner edges all 4 noticed one day it started to sound like i had mud tires. Today I am driving my truck with 275/60R20 Cooper Discoverer at3 tires again about 2 yrs old 70% tread and I start to get a front end viberation looked it over SURE ENOUGH outer edge of all 4 tires out of round. I paid $1200 for these tires and loved them up until now the traction was great ect but come on... falling apart with little mileage and 70% tread I guess they dont make them like they use to........

Was looking at the Coopers but now I think not.
But I will say that I’ve heard negative things about the Transforce tires, yet I have 80k plus miles on the originals with my truck and could go some more I think. I guess I’ll wait till spring. I would go with transforce again but want an all terrain tire.

I had a set of 4 Cooper AT3 4S on my ram too....they were GREAT...until they started checking and cracking all over the place at only about 15k miles or so. I was FED up and since switched to Pirellis.
Which Pirellis did you get? I bought a set of the Scorpion A/T Plus and they didn't balance for anything. Thought I was driving on cubes. After third try, warrantied that set and tried again, lousy warranty Pirelli has also. Second time was better, but still notice some of out of round or flat spotting at weir random intervals. GoodYear Wranglers were great, but next time I'm going to try the Falken Wildpeak A/T.

I bought the identical tires..265/75/16 for my 99 ram.I currently have 72,400 miles on them ..load range E (10)ply..they are the best tires I’ve ever owned and had on this heavy truck and still going they’re going to dry rot before they lose tread

Bfg ko2’s are pretty solid. Just make sure if you get them, get the version with the new compound as I remeber my last pair with the old compound wearing out in about 40k miles. New ones are lasting longer so far.

I had been using Coopers up until a few years ago. For some reason they turned to crap. Two sets would not balance without a ridiculous amount of weight. Like 9 oz's on one tire. Returned them and bought Michelin Defender LTX and have never looked back.

My experience with Coopers mirrors yours. Used them for years on my personal vehicles and on a fleet of work trucks. We also had good luck with them, until about 2017. Out of round issues, unusual tread wear and excessive noise. I had a set on my Ram that got so bad, I ended up replacing them well before they wore out. Noise was so bad on the freeway it was a distraction.

Interestingly enough, I have a F150 that came new with the Michelin Defender LTXs on it. Great tire, the wife keeps asking me to "put the same tires back on the truck that it came with". The F150 is hers. Those Michelins were crazy expensive before inflation took off. Haven't priced them recently.

Why? Just because Goodyear bought them? They do not use any Goodyear compounder, designs, or anything. They use same stuff they used before, at least for now.

Those are the tires on my used RAM 1500 when I bought it in May of last year. They're almost at the end of their life span. I plan on replacing them with Les Schwab Open Range ATs.

I read the reviews on the Coopers and most of them weren't good!

Oh yes, i have read a few good things about those Falkens, I will see how easy they are to purchase near where i live.
I do a (PMCS) on the truck every 2 weeks, old military habit. Check all fluids, gaskets (visual), and also PSI on cold tires and insure inflated properly. I use a digital gauge, not reply on truck readout. And always rotate every 5,000 miles, and pay particular attention to PSI when U get a big drop in temps, but just how I am.

I run down of the recall posted
The affected models include certain Discoverer, Evolution, Courser, Deegan, Adventurer, Hercules, Back Country, Multi-Mile Wild Country, and Big O tires in 18- and 20-inch sizes that were manufactured from Feb. 1, 2018, through Dec. 1, 2019.
The company warns that some tires may exhibit a bulge on the sidewall. It advises, “Driving at high speeds may cause this condition to occur and should be avoided until the tires have been inspected and replaced.”
These problems were identified from a higher-than-usual return rate for these tires.
The company will contact customers in late March 2021.
Cooper is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.

The Details

Tires Recalled
• Big O AT/T Big Foot (275/65R18), Big O Bigfoot A/S (275/65R18)
• Cooper Adventurer H/T (Pep Boys 275/65R18), Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S (275/65R18), Discoverer A/T3 (275/65R18), Evolution H/T (275/65R18), Discoverer AT3 4S (275/55R20)
• Hercules Terra Trac A/T II (275/65R18)
• Les Schwab Back Country QS3 Touring HT (275/65R18), Back Country SQ4 All Terrain (275/65R18)
• Mastercraft Courser HSX Tour (275/65R18), Courser AXT (275/65R18, 275/55R20), Courser AXT2 (275/65R18, 275/55R20)
• Mickey Thompson Deegan 38 All-Terrain (275/65R18, 275/55R20)
• TBC Multi-Mile Wild Country XTX Sport 4S (275/65R18, 275/55R20), Cooper Discoverer RTX (275/65R18).
The problem: The affected tires may develop bulges or separations in the sidewall area of the tire that if undetected may result in a tire failure leading to the loss of vehicle control.
The fix: Inspection to verify that the tires are part of the affected production run. If so, they will be replaced free of charge.
Also if you do not know how to check your tires date code here is a tire showing you what the four digit date looks like first two is week # and second two year

report-a-safety-problem NHTSA report defective tires -
Have you experienced a vehicle, tire, car seat, or equipment safety problem that could be a safety defect? If so, you can file a complaint that we will carefully review — like we do with every safety problem submitted to NHTSA.

What is a safety-related defect?Generally, a safety defect is a problem that poses a risk to motor vehicle safety, and may exist in a group of vehicles or equipment of the same design and/or manufacturer. An example of a safety-related defect is a steering component that breaks, causing a driver to lose control. However, an air conditioner that does not work properly isn't considered a safety-related defect, because it does not pose a risk to motor vehicle safety. Why is it important to file a complaint?Complaints like yours help us investigate possible defects, which could lead to a safety recall. By reporting your problem, you're helping to keep vehicles — and ultimately our roads — safe.
To submit your complaint online, select your problem below and fill out the complaint form. If you don't have an email address, or you're unable to fill out the online form, contact our Vehicle Safety Hotline. We have English- and Spanish-speaking staff members, who are trained and knowledgeable, to answer questions and assist you in filing your complaint.

Luckily i had bought my tires last year which were old stock before Goodyear took over...this will be my last set of Coopers sadly just for that reason. Michelin LTX will be my next buy for the Ram.

Had cooper on ‘09 1500, didn’t put very many miles per year on them, were ok. Years ago had Goodyears that came on new car, went out of round at 20k miles. Went to GY dealer and waited an hour on the car in front of me that had the same prob out of round, manager was my neighbor. He gave me a new set, but said I might get a call from corporate and to tell them out of round. Years after that new dodge minivan had GY’s and RR tire blew out w wife and two kids on way back from vacation at 70 mph. Good thing I had just rotated them. That is why I’ll never have Goodyear or Cooper again. Kinda like if ya get food poisoning from a restaurant your a little gun shy to go back for seconds.
Have had good luck w Michelle and Pirelli. Just bought Pirelli’s for Honda Pilot based on Discount Tire’s testing of wet and dry traction.

Interesting. I had a set of those tires. They came with the truck. They started getting down to the wear bar so I replaced them. They seemed very bouncy. Like you could feel every crack in the road. I switched to Goodyear Trailrunners. They were $1050 out-the-door. My last truck had those. They were a good mix of both an on and offroad tire. They did last awhile too. The new trailrunners on the RAM have a very comfortable ride. Can't wait to try them out in the snow.

Air pressure changes app. 3 psi for every 20 degrees F. It's a fairly linear relationship.

I do not normally get too drastic changes, except for dat Friggin Tundra -5 F stuff in Feb 2021. But even here, gotta keep an eye and maintain. Tires cost too much to wear pre-maturely and also I try to keep optimum PSI in tires for ride, etc.,. Good thing my truck is a Driveway Queen, LOL.
