New to the site. Recently purchased a 2016 Ram 2500 with the 6.7 Cummins 110,000 miles. My transmission temp is running 202-203 on interstate not towing or hauling anything. Outside temp 70 degrees running 70-75mph. Also thought I felt it slip slightly when I pulled up the driveway when I got home. I know this is high per other posts regarding normal transmission temps. I do not know when the transmission has been serviced. Would it be a good idea to have this done first (fluid change, etc.) or what route would be the best to take? Will be towing boats in the spring and summer.

Slipping would cause excessive heat but going down the highway torque converter locked in OD you would know if it slips when you full throttle it and rpms overly increase. Inspect the fluid for color and smell. If its black and smells burnt bad then you may be experiencing slipping. If the color isn't too bad and no signs of burnt material I'd service it with fresh filter and fluid. DO NOT use any "flush" products. Strictly refill with appropriate fluid.
If your temps remain higher than normal I'd suspect the thermostat is failing to open enough to cool it.
Theres many companies that make new by-pass units but heres a link to one that describes it. The unit is easy to replace and sits along the passenger side of the transmission near the engine. Also unloaded my dually runs around 165°.

Thank you for the information. No RPM issues at all. Will proceed with the fluid route. Appreciate the assistance!

I installed one of these on my 22' right away. I was towing 5k in 38deg weather and not even working my truck 198deg. Not even 2000 miles on it Dropped temperature on average 20degs.
