The stock one does pull in "some" air in 3d Sim. I do agree it needs to be higher to best optimization. Which is what we did. 3/4 of inch higher than stock.
Didn't want it look ugly, but also functional. Since it was all done on 3D sim, and I never put them on, hard to say the exact high in practice would be.
FCA used to have their 4th Gen wind tunnel tests posted, but now all i can find are the wind tunnel tests on the 5th Gens. The 4th Gens would need the scoops at least 4" higher to get any kind of ram air factor by the wind tunnel tests.Chrsyler engineers knew that way back in the 60's though,as that's why their add on drag scoops were roughly 6" tall

I have a Vararam on mine as well. But the front scoop of mine is just black while my file=ter cover is orange, like my truck. Did you do the red one yourself? I don't have the airgrabber scoop either. I feel a little jealous over that. LOL

to help pull in cold air to the intake on the hwy, I did this to my Power Wagon:

I think the original question (IMHO) was to cool the engine bay. I been wondering how to evacuate the heat from under the hood myself. On my Jeep I used one of the top of the hood louvered plates, but I found that the 56 Buick port holes I installed on the side would flow much more air/heat from under the hood then the top louvers.

I did, I actually made it to go with my Vararam, which doesn't exist for my year model truck in this configuration.
It's actually Chevy orange, Hemi orange wasn't orange enough.
