15-17 mpg is what I normally get with my 2020. that is actual hand figured with a calibrated speedo. sure I can get 13mpg if I feel like I need to have my foot into it but I am past that lol. Toyo rt 35's. just got back from an 800 mile road trip and average was 15.9mpg hand figured computer showed like 16.2. I find on longer trips the computer is pretty close. if just running around it is a mile or more optimisic

I sold mine but my average real world day to day was ~12 give or take (every single tank hand calculated). Could do better on the highway of course but that was basically my average. (this was a 6 speed trans). And my data pretty much mirrors exactly all the Fuelly data collected on Power wagons

Just towed a brand new empty (winterized) 25' long x 8' wide x 11 1/2' high at 6,200 pound travel trailer from the Colorado Rockies to the eastern seaboard on calibrated 35's. 6.5 MPG per the computer dash read out and it just stayed at that. Drove 11 hours per day at 654 miles a day for 3 days per Google maps.

My normal style unloaded: 12.2mpg. 50/50 mix highway and city. Heavy right foot though. BFG AT 37x12.5.

If I really focus on long highway drives I can stay 16.8mpg.

First two tanks were around 13.5 (hwy/city mix). But with less than 1000 mi on it, it's not fully broken in.

Had my ‘16 since brand new (6 speed pos trans) and have never once ever seen over 13.5 mpg. Typically around 11-13 when just driving here and there, trying to get good numbers. Well into single digits when towing.

I have a half ton with the 5.7 hemi that i drive daily for work and consistantly can get 16-20 mpg with that, so yes i do know how to drive conservatively…theres just no such thing with a 6 speed power wagon lol

And why another mpg thread for a power wagon. They suck for mileage. Period.

17-18 if all I'm doing is highway.
My weekly average is 15mpg of combo driving which isn't terrible for running 35s...
Of course, now that winter is setting in my average will probably drop 2mpgs...

I'll stick with my Power Wagon's poor gasoline mileage in the winter's negative Fahrenheit temperatures versus a BEV or a diesel. Some of us have no garage and/or outlet within 100 yards from where our trucks are parked.

From the Ford website...

Tips for maximizing your BEV's range in cold weather

  1. Park in a garage wherever possible.
  2. Keep your BEV plugged in when parked.
  3. Precondition your vehicle using departure times to warm the cabin and the battery while plugged-in.
  4. Use the heated seats and steering wheel (if available) for primary heat to reduce energy consumed by the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system.
  5. When charging, turn off the heater.

Because my typical drive is on a 55 mph road with a few slowdowns to 35, I've been seeing almost 17 mpg all summer. Going to drop this winter as usual.

Expressway I generally see 13.5-14.

Towing drops to about 9-10.

Basically stock truck.

I live at 5500 foot elevation. Best highway mileage so far is 16.5 and average city mileage is 13.5 with 35s.

17.1 on my drive home from the dealership, mix of 2 lane highway, interstate, construction zone, and it was hilly but not mountainous. Why are hills hilly but moutains aren't mountainy, anyway?

I’m lifted a couple inches with 37s and my 2021 get 12-13 with everyday type stuff with includes a mix of highway and plenty of slow stop and go driving. Sure it will get 15-16 on the interstate but unless I’m going somewhere that doesn’t happen. It’ll get 9-10 towing a smallish camper as well which honestly is pretty good.
MPG wasn’t a priority, I wanted the lockers, gears and winch. My wife’s jeep is the mileage queen in the house and easily gets 20 highway with 37s and is also lifted. Shocking how efficient that 3.6 is.

Nice trailer. I picked up this 2023 20BD for camping all year in our Western Slope region. My PW towing gasoline MPG decreased from 8.5 to 6.5 on my recent trip to the East Coast once I dropped below 6,000 feet in elevation. Also switch to 87 Octane from 85 due to the lower altitude.

This might be the reason...

"In the case of gasoline engines, the higher altitude theoretically leads to lower fuel consumption due to lower throttle frictions due to the wider throttle opening. From the other side, as the air is less dense at higher altitudes, the vehicle aerodynamic is changed and this also leads to lower fuel consumption. July 5, 2022"

I’ve owned two Power Wagons, 5.7 w/ 4.56 gears and 35” mud tires and 6.4 w/ 4.10’s and 35” mud tires. Same winter mixed driving mileage (12), straight highway the 6.4 does better.

Like someone else said I get about 12.2 doing about 37 mi one way at 75 to 80 mph and the rest city. When I tow my 26 ft travel trailer I get about 10. If I drove all day at 55 mph I could get 15.5. I'm 100% stock 2021 power wagon 8 speed.

I rather use more gas to stay with the flow even if it means exceeding the posted 75 to 80 MPH speed limits.
