im looking for a portable upholstery cleaner for the truck. looked at the bissell green machine and while the positive reviews were overwhelmingly good the negative reviews were decidedly damning. Any recs on your experience positive or negative would be appreciated. Pretty sure the only use will be to clean the seats in the truck....and yeah the dog makes it a challenge :) Thanks in advance

So here is the thing about those small, cheap, portable extractors to clean "seats"...

They will all clean the surface, but the amount of water that they will extract is not good. You need an extractor that is actually mean to extract water much deeper than these small portable cleaners.

What happens is too much water is used on the seats and all that dirty water gets soaked in deep by the seat's cushions and then stays there until it dries. That creates a lot of issues one of them the growth of mold and most of the time it is black mold!

If you are going to get your seats cleaned using a carpet cleaner, don't !!! I have an auto detailing extractor, the Mytee 8070 which is also heated. The key feature of these extractors is the amount of "waterlift" and the Mytee 8070 has 130" compared to 103" the Bissell Green Machine has.

While you might think it's not much of a difference, it is and by a lot. That is the suction power the machine can use to suck up water.

But even then, if you are patient and use the least water possible, the Bissell Green Machine "will" work for you.

But keep in mind that the Bissell Green Machine is mostly for carpets, I think it does have an upholstery attachment but doesn't work as good on seats as it does on carpets. The other Bissell is the Bissell Little Green and that has no waterlift lol ...

The Mytee 8070 is $1300 but UnoClean has one for $429 that is pretty good but it doesn't have a heater, but honestly you really don't need a heated extractor. Below is the link to it, I do see you are in Canada so I don't know if this one will be available to you.

I tried looking on Amazon Canada but didn't see many options.

If you see other extractors, make sure you have more than 100" of waterlift, if the Bissell Green Machien is all you can find, give it a try.

The UnoClean one says it has 74" of lift.

I personally have the Little Green Machine Pro which works well for my needs as far as cleaning goes. Cannot find any specs on it as far as lft tho.

Like Cheech says, the more extraction the better! I certainly wouldn't use mine during the colder times of the year, need ambient temps to be warm/hot to help dry it out after.

But it has 100 CFM, forgot to mention that too, the Mytee 8070 has 100 CFM too but 130" of lift which is pretty good ..

I used the little green machine too on old police cars. I wasn't cleaning off anything in particular (coffee stains, etc.) I was very pleased with it's performance. The dirty water/cleaner was proof it clean/disinfected well and cleaned deep enough for my needs. I guess if you need a deeeep cleaning for some reason then you may need something different. But I believe it cleaned deep enough and dried out soon enough for me.

I decided to purchase the green machine pet pro on sale at cdn tire 100 bucks. Used it once and it seems adequate for my needs which is probably only twice a year. It picked up about half the water but this may improve as i become more experienced with it. Upholstery dried reasonably well with doors open for an hour or so. Not sure what the pet reference is for as it did practically nothing to pick up the dog hair (though my dogs hair is short and tends to stick into the upholstery). All in all it fit my needs. Thanks for all the input, much appreciated.

As long as you are satisfied with the purchase and how it worked for you is all that matters ..
