sO MY hAUL TRUCK IS 2000 dODGE D250 Extended cab . I keep a thermometer in one of my vent year round... i JUST KEEP iT THERE INSTEAD OF MY TOOL BOX.& i always know where it is .
... But today it's running at 60*. 3 minutes after it's started or after it was running fro an hour.
It's had a lot of effort to get it colling better over the last 2 years .
It been worked on the last 2 or 3 times By a mechanic that had spent about 15 years at the Chrysler dealership where I too worked . Ronnie moved on to the Electric co-op & he got a easier job With a retirement . Much more time off for family . & He is a good family man & He's a volunteer fireman . & WE'VE HAD THE FIRES THIS SUMMER. & hE WAS A good AC man while I was the Service advisor for 6 mechanics.
It's had a new compressor . Receiver dryer & Orifice tube & Line ..
Some new blend doors .. SO They keep trying to tell me some are obsolete now.
We put in a new Evaporator core & a new Heater Core. & Of course a new Blower motor & reistates .
... I'm thinking it's had everything but a new Condenser in front of the radiator.
It just want get cold 42* any longer .
There's not any insulation missing It's still a nice truck.
Granted it has 365K ON it but It's a nice truck.
........... ANYONE had any issues like this & you got your fixed.
Mine was in the shop today & yes it had correct amount of freon in it.

Might try adding a shut off valve on your heater core . or Just bypass to test if it works .

You should get a 30deg temp difference between outside and inside air, ie 90 outside 60 inside. When you put it in recirc the same TD applies but the cabin is now cooler, ie 70 cabin, 40 discharge. Perhaps a problem with your recirc door?

Is the AC clutch holding? That's was the issue on our jeep. Swapped the clutch plate from another pump and it's 100% now.

When the HVAC doors were replaced, did you check the actuators , there are the little motors that move the doors.
The actuators, or at some of them are easily accessed.

If it's slipping, it will get really hot. It can seize the bearing with enough time and heat. It may still look like its spinning.

It should pull in an out cleanly when the AC system commands it. They can get sticky with rust and dust. If it not coming on reliably, a little smack with soft hammer may cause it to pull in.

Well it's a new compressor with clutch factory installed. IT'S NOT BEEN ON BUT ABOUT 6 MONTHS . I believe it's working correctly because I've driving it on several trips over 100 mile one way laterly .
Yes I went by a tech that works on my stuff at times . & He checked & said all the Actuator motors are working correctly .
...... I think the condenser is the only piece that hasn't been replaced. This is a Diesel truck & I've know the truck since it was new . & My truck does have 365K ON IT.

The condenser is either good or has a hole/leak causing you to lose freon charge. Maybe before you lose charge completely, try spraying soapy water and look for bubbles.

You can check for charge with a quick push on one of the Schrader valves. Those cheap AC recharge kits include a gauge too.

dANG THE 1ST COLD SPELL of the year. I went on a short trip of about 20 miles . It wasn't but about 42 degrees & I had no heater ... Temp gauge said I was easily at my normal 190+ degree. But I sure had no hot air.
