My gf accidentally was trying to turn on the heat and I think she put it in 4x4. Obv I know it is bad to have it in four lock on dry pavement and I think I caught it fast enough less than a mile I hope. How bad is it that this happened?

You sure…I don’t know how long it had been on for sure I’m hoping it wasn’t long but I was also in the passenger seat. 4 lock isn’t supsooed to be on dry pavement.

if you were going straight for the most part, you are fine. There could be a bit of binding if you went around a corner, you would likely have felt it. This happens because in a curve, the outside tires travel further than the inside tires, so they spin a bit faster.

Most of the more modern systems can handle some of this without issue. If it will make you more comfortable, find a gravel area, or grass. Put it in 4x4, drive a bit, make a circle. I think you will find there are no errors, no strange noises, and the everything works fine.

Just seemed odd thst after I thought I saw her hand move and saw it on dash I had her out it in two and we got back to apartment and it still felt like it was binding so I took it in and out of 4 a few times then went for a short ride seemed like it was back to normal.

How long would you say you would have to run it in four lock for it to actually do damage?
