2014 Ram. Service power steering message on dashboard. Battery went dead on and I replaced it with a new one. After doing so, I now have no power steering. Fluid is full and good. No check engine codes. Wasn’t having any issues before replacing the battery. Any ideas where to start looking to solve this?

Your 2014 doesn't have electronic power steering?

Just trying to figure out what fluid you checked.

If you do have EPS. I believe the EPS power lead runs directly to the battery positive cable. I'd check all connections.

What series of truck do you have? 1500/2500/3500?

2013+ 1500's should have EPS, a 2500 would have hydraulic steering, as I recall. Unless there I'm remembering wrong.

Ram 1500 so after posting this l learned it’s electric. The fuse in the fuse box isn’t blown and neither are the ones on the battery terminal. Grab fuses from parts and am gonna throw in a new one just to see if that does it.

Check fuses.

The racks ...One owner (search posts a few days ago) went through 3 EPS racks. The last one, the controller housing area was *full* of water. His circuit board looked good though (they're clear-coated). So, you might want to pull the housing cover off where the controller resides, and have a look on yours. Dry it out if there's water or condensation. At the very least wiggle the wire connectors make sure they're making a good contact. Look the board over closely for corrosion. If you get it fixed, seal the cover with RTV.

Theres a fuse on the positive battery terminal that I believe feeds the power steering rack, check continuity on that...

If it is the eps module it will cost around 3400.00 at dealer. They have to replace the whole rack. It will be a remanufactured one. Dealing with the same issue right now on my one owner garage kept Ram 1500 Express with 25,000 miles on it. The racks are on back order (lots of failures i guess) so my truck is waiting on the part. I believe the 2015 and 2016 had a recall on this issue. Too bad they didn't include 2014.

Have anyone figured out what is causing the EPS failure. Mines went out two days ago while driving straight. Once i made it home the next day my battery was down I needed a boost off. Later on that day i needed to more boost and both times the steering was back working again for a couple minutes. It’s weird that the last two boost it was fine could it be that my battery dont have enough power for the eps to work.

Ram is likely not keen on releasing a recall for this problem. I had mine replaced a couple months ago for $3600 at the dealership. My 4x4 is now out and they think the TIPM needs replacing.

Not too many people have dug into them in great depth. However a couple owners have removed the cover plate of the electronic control board. What they discovered was a lot of water in the electronic controller portion of the EPS. There is a cavity behind the square plate (the cover for the controller cavity). One fellow owner reported a lot of water came out. The electronic boards are coated with a water-proof plastic, but not the main terminals which the external wires attach to. They were badly corroded on his control board. One guy felt water 'appeared' to be coming in from the inner tie rod end.
