We usually keep the fridge in the back seat anyway because of bears

EriikK is on the money with his recommendation of 3M VHB tape or similar Gorilla tape. I had a flexible panel on my rooftop tent for years using VHB tape and didn't have any issues. In fact, when the panel died it took some effort to pull it off. He's also right on about charging from the alternator while driving or using a Victron or similar battery-to-battery charging system. Lots of options out there and lots of opinions. The lower quality Chinese products will eventually die, but not everyone wants to buy the highest quality components. Getting out and enjoying what you want to do is what it's all about.

If it was mine I'd wire up the battery isolator, it's not difficult nor a big modification of your truck. Just one wire connected to the battery, like installing a stereo.

But anyway, build it and try it, see if it works the way you want or if you need to take more steps. If you were running a CPAP machine and didn't have a backup generator I might give different advice. Go for it!

You might also check out the u-Tube channels. Ambition Strikes build a CTD Camper and installed Solar. Lot of people are doing it.

Been looking at the Canadian Solar 450 Watt for additional heat in our House. Since they seem to be coming down in price.

A 2017 Power Wagon with 300 W solar mounted on the camper roof. Better than the truck's roof for mounting.

Saw something like this at my local polling station today. The owner said he used it to power a fridge in his Tacoma.

I am trying to build my truck inexpensively because the economy is in the toilet the exchange rate and shipping to Edmonton kills cascadeia is in north Vancouver so not as much but I don’t need a vehicle specific solar panels the two 200 watt panels and controler were only 240 cad on Amazon I’m not sure if that is still the price but when I looked at them before that’s what it was

If "it" has a Big Difference in price on Amazon the "it" might not be "it".

They were not hard to install at all because I used endurabond tape. It’s what they use for rv’s. I drove at a sustained 90 mph for a half hour and they are still good. The solar panel are on the roof of the truck because the topper lifts up and down. I use 2 regular 12 volt batteries but they are 1000cca so they are plenty big for what I need. I have only run my topper lift and little diesel heater so far but I will add my 12 volt fridge too
