Recently I have replaced the Cam / Lifters in my 2013 Ram 1500. I replaced cam, lifters, oil pump, water pump, sparkplugs, cam position sensor, VVT solenoid, cam phaser, timing chain & accessories. Upon start up the truck will not run. The truck will turn over with no issue but will not run. I have plugged in multiple scanners and my superchips flashpaq to see codes and there are no codes. I double checked timing, wiring, sensors, anything I did during this swap out. I am at a loss at what this could be. Any info would be great, this is my 1st hemi tear down.

Only thing aftermarket on this truck is suspension, Mishimoto Catch Can, 4.88 gears, flashpaq tune with MDS turned off!

I used Texas-Speed & Performance MDS delete kit with all of their upgrades.

Did you already flash the tune for the mds delete. Not sure if flashpaq sends written altered files or not.

If you did and it won't start flash it back to stock. MDS doesn't kick in at idle anyway

The truck was tuned before anything was done to it, with no issues. After looking at it I have found cylinders 5 & 8 have no compression. I am fixing this today and inspecting my valvetrain of any damages. I will update soon.

Cylinders 5 & 8 had no compression. I fixed #5 with an adjustment to the rod. Now #8 exhaust rod is good but the rocker arm bolt at the back of the head and next to it are broken. I had to order a new exhaust side Rocker Assembly from Summit Racing Mopar part # 53021553AB. After 5 total days working on it between life in general, I am hoping she will fire up. I will update again. Thanks!

After fixing all of my issues, the truck is running smoothly. Heres the catch, after revving it up to 3-4k rpms as it comes back to an idle it dies. My scanner shows no issues and shows the cam / crank in sync, Engine light only comes on after 3rd-4th start up code is p0016 - has to do with timing. Anyone have something on this? I triple checked timing and it is on the money and idles fine until rev it up. I have been told to go get it tuned due to the cam possibly being just slightly different than an actual OEM one.

Are you shure the timing is nto off 1 toth on 1 side its very easy to do on a 4.7 the v8 marks dont always sit 100% at 12 o clock can be tricky to look at. Just make sure when set to tdc both v8 marks on the gears look the same. Also the cams you used where they oem spec or ?
The cam i bought is a stock one from Texas-Speed & Performance

I just realized i responded to the wrong thread before yours is a hemi have you checked compression? Could very well be a tune issue I would contact whoever you got the cam from confirm it was oem spec and didnt need a tune.

After some time working on the truck. I have now got it tuned and worked out some electrical bugs having to do with a dead cell in the battery that i realized is 5 years old. She runs and drives smoothly. I am needing the tune adjusted just a hair due to sensitive throttle and shifting is not to my liking. I have had a P000B code only once and it has never returned. I read on my live data during the test drive that my exhaust degree target is 120 and it runs about 115 constantly. Is this a problem?

P0016 is Cam/Crank correlation. Possibly you got the timing chain off a tooth or 2.

Can you link the parts you used? I’m looking to do this to my 2014 5.7
