Fairly new to Forums. Not up to date on the alphabet designators and nomenclator. I don't understand the gen versions. I haven't owned a Dodge since my 2006 2500 diesel. Anyway, earlier this year I bought a 2022 Long Horn Hemi crew cab with 500+ miles from a GMC dealer. I am missing a few options, probably due to chip issues. I wonder sometimes why someone would trade in a vehicle with 500 miles, what could be wrong with it. Obviously, I have the warrantee. I am still discovering options I don't have, like last night, no heated steering wheel, no adaptive cruise control. I will live without them, but I read this forum and hear all these problems and I wonder if I made the right choice or not. So far, I like the truck. Have not even had the oil changed yet, just got 2500 miles on it (dealer changed before I purchased). What can I expect?

99 percent of the people on forums are looking for solutions to problems and advice. Rarely do people come and say life’s great.

Don’t worry, just drive it. Check the oil as it will use it in the first 5K. If your really worried ram offers 7year unlimited mileage warranty.

I find it suspicious also. There are a number of wiz-bang options that are not activated (I suspect due to chip shortages). I assume the previous owner traded it in for a loaded GMC Denali.

Thanks for the reminder. I had already downloaded the Sticker and it refreshed my memory. It turns out that my steering wheel heater is turned on through Uconnect screen. I had been looking for a manual switch. The manual was of no help at all trying to find it. I also found out that I got the 3.92 axle, now I am not worrying about towing anything.

I just got a 22 Ltd Longhorn, and went through the manual cover-to-cover. For the HD's, the manual did a good job of showing all those types of controls. The very top corners of my 12" uConnect screen have the icons for the seats and wheel too. Just touch that and pop out comes up letting you turn them on and off.

Vehicle shopping over the past two years has for many people, ended in a custom order because they couldn't find what they wanted on a lot. There's no telling how many people ordered a vehicle without ever having driven it. I imagine some of those folks didn't like the vehicle when it was finally delivered, and since the past two years of supply chain issues created an environment where you could sell a used car for as much (or more) as you paid for it, there was very little penalty for punting and finding something else. That's one possible answer for why your truck was sold after having been driven only 500 miles.

As others have said, many people only come to a forum looking for answers to a problem. Ram sells approximately 500,000 trucks per year (for at least the past five years), so that's over 2,500,000 trucks. Even if you could find 25,000 complaints on this site, it would only be 1% of the total production count. Forums like this are a microcosm, and because they are a quick source for answers from knowlegable people, they may be at times skewed toward the negative as folks look for solutions to issues they are having. You'll find the same dynamic on every vehicle forum that exists.

I think you should expect to have a nice truck.

DITTO ABOVE.

OP, run your VIN in the Equipment section, not the sticker, the equipment section will list all installed on the truck. The Steering wheel and seats are turned on in U Connect. The Long Horn may or may not have adaptive, U have to run your equipment listing to see what level options are installed on the truck. Either way, Maintain the truck, use good "Fluids", good fuel, good filters and enjoy the ride. A lot of PPL on this site also have a lot of knowledge on towing, just FYI. Possible some options were installed and not activated due to chips, so U need to run the equipment listing and may require a dealer visit to confirm/deny whateva you have to do. Purchasing a warranty is a good idea also. All IMHO... Below paste into your browser.

Actually, 25K out of 500K is 5%, but I agree with you. Forums are places folks generally only come to when they have issues.

That is really strange that a GM dealer has a used 22 Ram with only 500 miles on it.
Not in the market we have(had). Lots of people bought new cars with stimulus money only to realize they can't afford the payments, and the resale was higher than they paid. Lots of dealers paying stupid money for used cars... Of course, that is mostly over.

25,000 is 1% of the 2,500,000 produced over the past 5 years. We're talking about the same thing, just using annual vs five year figures.

Also, they told me there would be no math in this job. :)

I had so many worries looking at the various forums while shopping . It almost makes you afraid to buy anything. The thing is you have to realize you are only hearing the problems and complaints! There are many more good ones made than the bad ones. I was so afraid but listened to people telling me, what i am telling you. I went ahead and biught a new RAM 1500 and so far have been more than pleased! If it seems decent then enjoy it. As far as options IDK if you know but there are a couple BH options and level one does not have all level two adds so perhaps you just have level 1 or whatever they call it.

Here's a link that will show you the window sticker for your truck. That will tell you exactly what options you have. Just enter your VIN after the equals sign and hit enter.

That is really strange that a GM dealer has a used 22 Ram with only 500 miles on it.
My Ram dealer ended up with a low mileage, (7000) less than a year old GMC Sierra 1500 SLT wh3nni traded it in on my Ram 2500. Nothing suspicious about it. I just came to the painful conclusion that I didn't have enough truck for the travel trailer we ordered. :( The good news is I really like my Ram. Lesson learned, buy the right truck to begin with and avoid a costly mistake.

I didn't say it was suspicious, only strange. And 7K miles is a lot different than 500. But whatever. Probably got good money for it, given the once in a lifetime bubble we were in.

Hello, so there is an option that I wanted and had to take to the dealer to,get it turned on its the option for my 2022 2500 longhorn to keep running after a long drive. You can walk away lock the truck and after a few minutes the system will automatically shut down. Diesels engines create a lot of heat and this option helps the engine block cool down, it is recommended in the manual and it’s something I have always done. My last truck had 400K miles on it and I think doing this helped.
