Hi, so I just was cleaning the windows on my truck when I randomly noticed that the headliner has some stains of water leaking on it. I have never seen it before and I frequently detail my truck I try to keep it in good shape so I know every part of it pretty well. I hope it's an easy fix and while I detail other areas of cars/trucks well headliners are not something I can detail lol. Anyways I hope it is not a big problem this truck literally decided to break down in the last few months granted it has 196k miles but it is kinda getting tiring fixing one area and another breaking or needing to be fixed lol. Just venting but I love this truck! Thank you.

Rear window frame being cracked will not give you a wet headliner water does not wick up, you will have water under your rear seats if frame is cracked.

Looking into it, it most probably is the third brake light since I do not have an antenna there or the window frame is cracked as everything else is dry. It's new to me that it could leak through the brake light what causes it and how do I fix it? do I just order a new brake light?

It isn't the light, it's the gasket behind the light. Order a new gasket or make one.

Hi, here's the link for the new gasket.

My bad for the dumb question lol. I am just used to regular cars and this is my first truck I am learning a lot about, especially with the repairs and replacements I'm having to do. Thank you I will be ordering the gasket, is there a video on how to properly install it?

Our 3rd brake light was leaking.
Funny how we found it was leaking.

It's my daughter's truck, 2015 1500. She had one of those jump starter packs in the floor recess under the back seat. She kept hearing a faint beep. It was the jump starter. It was saturated, sitting in a puddle!
The water had leaked through the 3rd brake light and accumulated in those recessed floor cubbies.
The jump starter was ruined, but it did serve a purpose, as a leak detector!

You can follow the youtube video, it's pretty easy as there are only 2 screws that hold the light in. Make sure to clean the roof and light surfaces where the gasket goes really well.

My Dakota developed a leak where the roof panel meets the side panel on top of the room. There is rubber seal on the seam in newer trucks. Maybe this joint? Check with garden hose.

Well guys I don’t know how I didn’t see it but I guess this is the antenna thing on the roof and the leak is exactly under it too. Doesn’t look damaged but I’ve already got the seal for the brake light so I’ll order whatever I need for this one asap after you guys recommend me what to get.

I made my gasket out of marine weatherstrip. Worked better than the cheap gasket from the dealer. Mine started leaking at 38,000 miles

I believe that if it is roof antenna it is a pain to change. Think I remember when researching my leak the headliner needed to come down. Someone else will no better on here
