Hey guys, I tried to remote start my 17 Laramie this morning and it didn’t start, it said remote start disabled in evic. What could cause this? I replaced the battery last month and this isn’t the first time it’s happened. Any ideas on what could cause this?

Look in OWNER'S manual, it provides the whole list of what will disable remote start. Why is that the last thing anyone wants to do?
• Gear selector in PARK
• Doors closed
• Hood closed
• HAZARD switch off
• BRAKE switch inactive (brake pedal not pushed)
• Ignition key removed from ignition switch
• Battery at an acceptable charge level
• PANIC button not pushed
• Fuel meets minimum requirement
• System not disabled from previous remote start event
• Vehicle security alarm not active

Eliminate all before looking elsewhere. Did you start the truck with the key and then re-try remote start. That by itself often solves the issue. Also, if your battery is is getting weak it will disable remote, even though you can start it with the key. Check battery.

Here is the weird part, it will remote start after it’s been warmed up, this only happens when it’s cold.

So won't start cold, what would that reasonably lead you to suspect, battery maybe? The standard rating for batteries is at room temperature 25 degrees C (about 77 F). At approximately -22 degrees F (-30 C), battery Ah capacity drops to 50%. At freezing, capacity is reduced by 20%. Capacity is increased at higher temperatures – at 122 degrees F, battery capacity would be about 12% higher. An already weak battery show the effects even more.

I replaced the battery about a month ago. I had it tested yesterday and it tested great. I’m going to get a video of what it does. It tries to crank and then nothing.

Well, in that case I am going to be very interested to hear what it turns out to be, because I am out of ideas.

It’s running rough. I’m going to have it looked at tomorrow and report back!
