My opinion is never add something into the cooling system other than exactly what the manufacturer calls for. Following the manufacturer's requirements for changing coolant when necessary, I have never once had a problem with rust, etc. In my cooling system. And that's almost two dozen vehicles and over a million miles driven.

You might want to stay on top of your cooling system on your 2500.The truck 6.4's are famous for plugging the heater core with casting sand in the HD trucks,so it wouldn't hurt to flush and back flush your heater core every once inawhile.I know a few guys are even adding a coolant system filter to their 6.4 HD's. Do a search on here for the issues plaguing the HDs. But i'm more curious if anybody who's had heater core issues has tried this stuff,if so,did it help with getting the heat back

I love their other stuff, I always have my tools soaking in it. I did not know they had a radiator treatment, very interesting.

Thanks, appreciate the heads-up. I have seen the threads, and I have seen people adding filters but if the problem really is casting sand, those filters will clog immediately and overheat the engine. I haven't seen that overheating issue post-filter install pop up in any of the Ram, Jeep, or Ford threads. Not saying it hasn't happened already, just don't see the response bring voluminous enough if sand is a problem. For my truck, over 3 years in and no problem. I am thinking I will just do the normal service. Figure that filter, even if I don't have sand, could be a problem by impeding proper flow and fixing something that isn't broke is not my normal MO.

You could add a filter to the heater hoses
But you're totally side tracking this,as the question is about whether the Evapo-rust works, and will help keep the cooling sytem functioning in top form, and whether it'll unclog the heater core if it's plugged,or only flowing a mininium amount of coolant, saving a costly heater core replacement. If you read the thread, you'll see it's a clean out concoction, and isn't meant to be run as a coolant year round

Interesting. The way I look at it is if your cooling system is causing overheating why not give this a try? You are likely running an old vehicle anyways so what do you have to lose? Evapo-Rust is a well respect brand. I would not do this unless there was a cooling system issue, going back to that old saying of "don't fix what isn't broken".

Reading the Owners Manual on my NEW to me 2018 it says to only use the mopar coolant and use no additives or it can cause clogging of cooling system. The coolant is supposedly organic.

Yes but this stuff is only suppose to be put in too break down deposits and then flushed out. It’s not to be put in and then drove around mixed with your coolant. As long as it flushed out completely I wouldn’t think it would be an issue. You can actually flush out all the factory coolant and run whatever you want. Just can’t mix the organic with a different type.

Ok, that makes sense then to use it. I did not realize it was a flush chemical. I think I read somewhere that is how the dealer does it. Not sure what they use, everything is a secret with dealers now days.
I would think it would be safe if thoroughly flushed afterwards. We used to do it all the time with the older vehicles, but now days with all the fancy sensors and different metals used it is almost impossible to tell what will happen.

This picture is slime from radiator walls cleaned out by rmi25, puts this slime that was clogging the rad into overflow tank. The one problem with any coolant is they don't have detergents, they don't because they need a film on metal to protect, if they had a detergent it wouldnt work. But when the additive cause this much slime, gonna run hot and you need to flush with a flush that works. rmi cleans then replaces film, it appears like super concentrated coolant plus whatever they use to clean. This was dex put into older rad, big nono.

2nd paragraph down says it's a flush ,not sure how you'd miss it if you read the link.

Thermocure removes rust scale and deposits from radiators, water pumps, water jackets, engine blocks, and heads. You can use Thermocure on ATVs, automobiles, diesels, RVs, and tractors. Thermocure cooling system flush is safe, simple, and easy to use. This product restores the engine’s ability to transfer heat to the coolant allowing motors to run cooler and last longer.

Sorry, I missed that in your first post. Old eyes and all. Sounds Like a good product. I will have to make a note to try it on my ATV.
